Hey guys,
I'm actually new here, I just spent quite a while on google trying to find a forum that would offer some advice.
I have two outdoor strays that I seem to have adopted. One is a male that I've named Smokey - I believe he's probably a year or two old. The other is an older Female that we have named Jassie. They are both pretty torn up from fights and what not, but Jassie isn't doing too well. Her left ear is folded over and torn up real badly behind it. Her right ear is also torn up pretty badly, but it's not folded over. I have been putting some Vet Balm on it and today I got my "Natural Pet Herbal Ointment" in the mail that I ordered, I also tried some Silver Solution. The one ear she will not let you touch at all, I believe it's just too sore... The problem is that it itches her so badly that she can't seem to leave it alone. It will heal and scab over, then she will rip it right back open. My question is, do any of you have any suggestions on what I could do or put on it to make it stop itching her so badly?
Thank you,
Bobbi

Welcome to TCS!  Thank you for helping this kitties.

If there is a way to get her to a vet, please do so.  She may have an infection that won't be cured without antibiotics.

If they are not spayed and neutered, please have that done.  Often, un-fixed cats spend a lot of time fighting, which may be how she was injured.

Hi Ondine,
I have to find a way to get her inside something to be able to transport her to the vets. I can pet and pick her up, but as soon as you try to get her inside something she gets scared and tries to get away.
Also, she's not here everyday so would a vet be able to give her some sort of antibiotic that would work for several days?
Thank you.

The easiest way to get her would be to borrow a humane trap.  You can just place some food in the back of the trap with a small trail of food leading from the entrance.  Once inside, you can cover the trap and transport her to the vet.  Be sure you have a vet that is willing to work with unsocialized stray cats.  Also check to see if you need an appointment as you don't want her in the trap for too long.  I have left feral cats in traps overnight but it is best to transport them the same day.

Also please be sure both of these sweet ones are spayed/neutered.  It will great increase their quality of life, also helping to reduce the cat population.  Lastly it will reduce the fighting that occurs.

I hope you are able to find a trap or large carrier.  You can lure her into a large carrier with really stinky food too.  I like to use tuna in oil or sardines.  Just be sure that once you get her into a carrier or trap that you cover it with a sheet or towel.  This will help to calm her.

She really really needs to see a vet.

ShadowsRescue is correct - a trap is the best way to catch her.  She may be a little miffed afterwards but she'll get over it.  This is a good opportunity to make sure she's spayed and up-to-date with her shots, too.

There are antibiotic shots that last up to two weeks, so you do not have to keep giving her the medicine.  The vet will know about them.

Oh, thank you so much. I will contact the vets here tomorrow and a couple other places and see if I can find a trap.

Yes, shes actually hanging out in their new kitty house. My boyfriend's aunt actually works at a cat rescue/adoption place here in WI called Angel's Wish and they get a lot of donations, so she loaded me up with food for them and gave me a little igloo house for them. It's actually a litter box, but they don't mind. [emoji]128539[/emoji]
