Hi,

I recently adopted a new cat but I'm not sure what the gender is. Does anybody know, here's a picture:

The previous owners didn't know its gender either. It's a year old. I'm guessing it's a male because of how far apart its anus is, but I'm not sure.

Has it been spayed/neutered? If not, at a year old it would already have testes if it were male. I'm leaning towards female purely because of the lack of testes, and if the previous owners had the kitty fixed then the vet would have told them the gender.

Butttt you are right that the space between the anus and opening are that seen in a male. So it would be really odd if they had him neutered and didn't know his gender?

How old is he and how long did his previous owners have him? Where did they get him? Did they ever take him to the vet?

I also think male but he looks odd back there. Can you post a picture of his face?

I'm not sure if it's been spayed/neutered, the previous owners only knew its age.

If your kitty is a year old I would say either a neutered male or a female.  Usually at about a year a male will develop the jowls even with testes that hadn't  descended.  A vet exam should answer your question.
