My guess is that she had a surge of hormones that caused the increase. Likely no issue, though I would certainly get her spayed as soon as the kittens are weaned. If she has high surges of hormones with heat cycles, that could very well make her more likely to develop pyometra (uterine infection) or mammary cancer.

I always thought it was 6 wks old every litter I've ever had I gave awAy at 6 good to no they were born 6 days ago
It's much better for kittens to stay with mom for 10-12 weeks! They continue to learn from her and one another long after they are weaned.

Also seconding the idea of spaying mom. With surges of hormones like she clearly has I would not risk another pregnancy.

She's only a year. It's doubtful she has cancer. What makes you say that?

Why do you think she has cancer?

Going into persistent heat cycles, lumps on her abdomen are signs to watch for. However, by the time you notice these you typically need to act very quickly to get treatment.

I believed you mentioned that this particular cat is only about a year old? If that is the case, cancer is unlikely; however, pyometra is a very real possibility.

There are no home remedies to help with either condition. Pyometra can develop quickly and, if not dealt with quickly, is fatal. Signs to watch for would be smelly discharge, inappetence, vomiting, etc...

The easiest way to avoid both conditions is to have her spayed. Spaying is also much less expensive than caring for a litter of kittens once you factor in food, testing for FIV/Leukemia, vaccines, deworming (all kittens need deworming), and litter.

Getting off subject for the thread, but...
For the urinary issues, we see this more in cats that are fed dry food only diets. It's also possible that stress is leading to bladder inflammation. (Could be linked to her heat cycles or environmental factors.)

Did she have a urinalysis and a urine culture done at the time? If so, what was found?
