Hi all, this is my first post! I have been lurking for a few days trying to find some related answers for my problem, but I guess the only way to get the best advice is to ask myself.
I have a pregnant cat. (We thought she had been spayed before we got her) I don't know how far along she is, I noticed that she was looking round for the week ending 3rd june. By then endof that week we had ddecided that she was definitely pregnant. And his week she has gotten huge bless her and her nipples have lost the hair around them and are leaking small amounts. She is eating lots which is good and I have made lots of possible nesting places for her though it seems her favourite place is on me or on our fireplace! We have decided to keep her in as she is very much an outside cat and loves to be in the garden.
So, this morning her tummy seems so much lower than before, to the point she almost looks smaller. Her kittens seem to be right underneath her now and her stomach between her back legs is very full . Any advice, help or anything else that anyone thinks I need to know I would be very grateful as my fur baby is a first time mum and these will be my first fur babies!

She has dropped, so she is near now.  Two days perhaps, max 3....  If she wants tummy rubs, please do it.

Get home a scale, a little needleless syringe of 1 or 1,5 grammes, some kmr or goats milk  (easiest perhaps goats milk - you can use it yurself if nothing else). some glucose sugar source - for example white caro syrup.

Be sure you know the phone and adress to your vet.

And read on, and ask questions as they come.

She does indeed sound close. The kittens are likely dropping lower into the birth canal now in preparation for birthing.

Do you have a nest prepared for the kittens? You'll also need an external heat source such as a heating pad set on low under the blanket, or a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel if it's chilly where you are. Kittens cannot regulate their own body temperature the first 3 weeks.

Keep us posted! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Hi, thanks for the replies I appreciate the help.
I got some kmr and a little bottle with some tiny teats that the vet gave me. I also got some wormer in preparation for the future.
I have set up 3 nest spaces for her though she doesn't seem to be interested in any of them! I do have a rice filled heat pad and a hot water bottle, so hopefully that will be ok.
She doesn't seem too happy to be kept in though and I'm worried that stressing her out will not do her kittens any good. But letting her out is not an option because I know she would definitely try and have them outside.
She doesn't seem to be drinking a lot of water. I have 2 bowls down for her to drink from and as she likes to drink from a running tap I always turn one on for her if she follows me to the bathroom.
I would post a photo of her but I have no clue how to! Lol

She will settle down about being inside. You are definitely making the right decision there!

You should also know that mom can get pregnant again within a week of delivery, so she'll need to stay in until she can be spayed when the babies are 8 weeks old.

My cat had her kittens 6 days ago. She had three but she smothered one, the 2 left are good and healthy. But the problem I have is the mama cat is not being a mama cat at all. She doesn't sleep with them, or particularly wash them. She will feed them purely out of a need for relief herself and she does toilet them after she's fed them but that is all she does! They hadn't fed for 7 hours and I have just had to literally shut her down in with them so they will get a feed. How long should they be left between feeds and should I start topping up with kmr?

Mom may need to be closed in with the kittens while her hormones kick in. This is normal. Make sure she has unlimited access to dry kitten food, water, and her litter box. She should also have several meals of wet kitten food per day.

Can you weigh the kittens daily? They need to, at minimum, gain 6-10g per day.

Can you keep mom 100% inside and away from intact males until her litter has weaned? She can already get pregnant again.

If they are not gaining properly they need KMR. They also do not need to go longer than 3-4 hours without feeding. Closing your mom cat in a room with her kittens may be necessary until they wean if she is truly ignoring them.

I'm not letting her out the house, but even when I shut her in the room with them she still sleeps away from them and though they have nice fat tummies I'm worried that may be because she isn't toileting properly.
I have some kmr and I have some digital scales so I will start weighing them tomorrow. It's such a shame because they are scrum my little things!

They look healthy!

Why not begin weighing them today? Then tomorrow you will know if they have gained since today.

Because for some reason I thought they would need weighing in the morning! :lol3:

I have just shut mama cat in to feed them so I will give it a hour and weigh them.

Sounds good! Then just weigh them at the same time every day. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I need help Urgently!
Mama cat has neglected to feed them and I have a fading kitten.
He weighs 252 grams and I've just managed to get 5 ml of kmr down him what do I do? How much should I try and get him to take? Having a panic!

Continue to give him as much as he'll take every 1-2 hours. Put honey on his gums to perk him up before each feeding. He needs 72 mLs of formula each 24 hours.

Why has mom neglected to feed the kittens?

How are the other kittens doing?

I don't know why shes neglecting them. Ibe been watching her with them and she never seems to want to know. The first one died after 24 hours and we thought these two were doing ok until this little one just sounded unwell I went to check him and he was floppy and breathing shallow.
I put honey on his gums and gave him 5mls of kmr. Now he is sleeping on me wrapped up and I need to go and check what she's done with the other one.

The kitten made it overnight, it was a long night but I've managed it. His breathing is much better today and I've been feeding him and giving him back to mama cat and she's been cleaning him up. But he won't feed from her, I just think at the moment he doesn't have the strength. I'm hoping in a few days he will get better and start feeding from her again. He hasn't lost any weight since yesterday, so tomorrow fingers crossed he puts some on.
Thank you for being there quickly for me yesterday when I was panicking.
