First off -

This spot is up for grabs. If you are interested in doing the Wednesday question of the day every week, send me a PM. :)

I am not a fan of shopping for clothes, especially clothes for a special occasion. I went dress shopping for me niece's bridal shower yesterday. :Cringe: I may have found something that is suitable.

Today's question is -

When was the last time you had to go shopping for an outfit for something specific?

You know, it's funny. When I feel good about myself, I love to shop for clothes. When I'm feeling fat or bloated, I hate shopping for clothes. I'm not really much of a clothes shopper as I usually have a hard time finding clothes that fit and finding clothes that look good without being too tight or too trendy, if that makes any sense. I'm 61 years old and while I try not to dress like a fuddy-duddy or a frump, I don't want to be that woman who's trying to look 20 either. Know what I mean?

The last time I really went shopping for an actual outfit was back in December when we had to go to Virginia to that wedding. I looked, couldn't find anything I liked (I was heavier then and hated everything I tried on), came home and decided to wear a pair of charcoal black dress pants with a burgundy top and a grey jacket with a pair of black boots. All from my closet. It worked.

The last time I had to shop for something specific was exactly 4 years ago when I started the job I have now  I had to work in the office for 6 months before going home to work and at that time they had a no jeans except on Friday rule.  I had to go to several different stores looking for pants that aren't jeans.  They have changed that rule now and they allow jeans all the time.

I hate clothes shopping  I will get down to where I have very little decent enough to wear outside of home before I give in and go buy clothes.

I hate shopping for clothes. They never look the way you envision them.

I can't remember the last 'big' occasion I had to go to. I usually wear a good set of jeans or slacks and a top...nothing fancy..

I went shopping for clothes about a month ago. I decided I had to get some decent hang around clothes, in place of the junk I had been wearing. I had to buy a few things because I outgrew all the ones in my closet. That was really upsetting.

I did have to go get some black tops for my job as a beauty adviser, to go with the black pants and black blazer that was given to me.

The previous year I did go shopping for a new dress for my cousin's wedding.

And I still have to get new shoes for my trip to Ireland. Something good quality, light, warm, suitable for walking, waterproof, the usual stuff. I already have all the other essentials set.

I can enjoy clothes shopping, though I don't go all that often. I'm not that interested in it where it is like a hobby kind of thing. Probably like twice or three times a year officially, with little moments inbetween if I see something I really like and/or is needed and a good deal. Hunting for special occasion stuff can be fun! And shopping for dance related items

I had to find something suitable for a memorial service last December.  I found a nice black top and a dark purple jacket to wear with black slacks I already had.

Other than that, I wear jeans, jeans and more jeans.  I always say that when I dress up, I wear black jeans instead of blue ones.

Tom's moms funeral last December. Short notice, luckily found a rather nice dress in Lord and Taylor on sale.

I actually wore it again going out to dinner one night so it's gotten some use other than what I bought it for.

FYI I hate shopping also.  I never buy nice stuff unless I have a reason to. We have a low key dress code at work, thankfully.

2 years ago for my cousin's wedding!  The wedding was in a church, the reception in a barn (rustic but really pretty!) and my DD was a flower girl.  I knew I needed a dress, comfortable shoes and the dreaded spanx to go under it all.  In June.
I used to like dressing up when I was thinner.  Now its hard to find something I feel good about myself in.  I actually liked my rehearsal dinner outfit better than my wedding day one.  I wore dress capris and a nice top.

Last summer, for my niece's rooftop wedding in August.  It was a beautiful day.  I just can't carry off anything really fancy or hip (but always wanted to
) , and luckily was able to find a nice blouse and dress slacks with nice shoes.  It was a few days before the wedding and I was very nervous before walking into the store that I would not find anything.  It is always like that, the later it is and you have a shopping purchase in mind, you can NEVER FIND ANYTHING!  I was pretty lucky this time.

I did see a lot of really nice outfits being worn and I thought a lot of people looked very sharp and it was a wonderful day!

...with the cats...
that would be for my sister's wedding. really hate having to wear anything but comfortable, 'functional' clothing. so i went shopping for the outfit for my sister's wedding with a friend, which was helpful.

these days i simply won't buy dress or formal type clothing.

I honestly can't remember the last time I went shopping for an outfit for a specific occasion. I know I'll probably be shopping for something in the not-to-distant future for a wedding I'm going to at the end of September up in Minneapolis. The last time though... probably my friend's wedding, when we were looking for a dress to model off of for the bridesmaids (she had someone actually make the dresses). So that was about 10 years ago.
