Hi,

I need to find a veterinary nutritionist for my cat that has probable IBD. She was never fully diagnosed via biopsy and she is showing more clinical symptoms and I need to try a diet change with her very, very soon. I consulted with a nutritionist previously but never followed through with a home cooked diet.

There are two names that were recommended: Dr. Susan Wynn and the faculty from UC Davis. But online I'm reading conflicting things about these doctors.

So if anyone can recommend someone that would be really, really great. You could also PM me if you would like instead. Thanks!

Try the directory of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition: http://www.acvn.org/directory/

Do you need a local veterinary nutritionist? If not, you or your vet can contact one of these places for more information and a consult:

A home cooked diet may be helpful for a cat with IBD. Have you taken a look at the Raw and Home Cooked Cat Food forum here on TCS? There is lots of info there on basic raw and home cooked diets.

You can take a look at https://www.petdiets.com/ for info about a custom made diet for your cat's particular needs.

Honestly I'd recommend you join the Raw feeding for IBD FB group and work with the members there on diet and supplements. IMO they know more than any vet or nutritionist. A lot of people find vet nutritionists a waste of time and money because they basically don't understand that cats are obligate carnivores nor are they very experienced with IBD.

Here's their website, and here's the link to join the group. Honestly Laurie is incredibly smart about raw foods and IBD and she's a former member here.

I totally agree with @missmimz! There's tons of information on the Facebook page and they're incredibly knowledgeable. They also make a great supplement that can be used for raw or cooked meat. Our cats love it.
