My Persian queen CiCi gave birth to 3 kittens 2 weeks ago, she is 3 years old, had kitten before.   My ragdoll queen Rose just turned to 2, and she is pregnant as well, that will be her first time.

Rose become very curious about Cici's  kittens, soon I found her sleeping in the box with all the kittens, and Cici allowed her,  normally they do not get on very well, but suddenly they all sleep together, like a big happy family.

Rose always there cuddling all the kittens.  However, last night, she gave birth to one kitten,   the kitten looks quite big and strong, constantly crying loudly..

Now all 4 kitten are nursing on CiCi, at first I thought Rose is new mum, although she is very caring, she is not that experienced, she possibly do not have milk yet.

But later I squeeze Rose's nipple, I can see there is a bit milk come out, and her breast became quite firm as well.

To my surprise, all the kitten only nursing on CiCi, no matter how I try to put them on the top of Rose's nipple, esp the new born one, as long as CiCi left the box, it will constantly climb here and there, cry very loud, nobody can get bit sleep..

So how can I get the kitten suckle on Rose? I am worried CiCi will be too tired, as all her breasts are flat, while Rose  has huge breast no one want :-(

Any suggestion will be appreciated

The best thing to do is put Rose and her new baby in a separate room so the baby has no choice but to nurse his mom for now.

Do you think she has more kittens to deliver?

Do you plan to spay the mom cats after these litters wean?

Thanks for suggestion.   I do not think there are more kittens inside Rose, as she looks very calm and relaxed. she is very young and first time mum, do not have big belly.

as for spaying them, I do not think so, as they are registered for breeding, I paid nearly £1500 for Rose. so I would like them have kittens once per year.

I agree that it is in the best interest of moms and kittens to separate them.

And I have a few questions about your breeding program, if you don't mind -

How many litters do you plan for them to have total?  Where do you get the males?

Cici is 3 now, this is her 2nd litter.  Rose just turned 2, this is her first pregnant.   I was told I can breed them once per year.

As for the male cat, we pay for stud fee, normally around £200 to £300 depends

That's my understanding too - not more than one litter per year.  It's also my understanding that they shouldn't be bred beyond 4-5 years of age, but someone can correct me on that.  Do you have a mentor?

We'd love to see photos of the babies and mamas.

Yes, I used to talk to this lady quite frequently, but we are not so close as before, for some reasons I do not want to discuss here.

As for the kitten, I think the suggestion may work.

at first, I separate CiCi, left Rose and the baby in the old box, but the new born just keep crying, so loud, I am surprised such loud noise can come from such tiny kitten. after one hour, I gave up, let CiCi come in.

Then I moved Rose to another room, with new box and her only kitten.  Rose was panicking,  want to escape back to the old room, the kitten keep crying loud, CiCi was outside the door try to get in, it was chaos,I almost gave up, esp. no matter how I try, the kitten just refuse to suckle.

after half an hour, for some reason, the kitten suddenly become quiet,  bury itself underneath Rose, and start to suckle,  and immediately the mum calm down, make some purring noise.

I will leave them alone now, see how it goes.

The baby looks quite ugly at this moment, will try to some pics when it is bit older.  This is the first time I see a ragdool kitten so young, I used to think all the new born kittens look same, but I can easily tell the difference between this one from those Persian kittens.   CiC'si kitten all have square shape, flat face when they were born, but this little guy have triangle shape head, and ugly funny long nose and a big loud voice

I'm glad the baby is nursing its mom now. It is for the best. They can all play together when the kittens are older.

Many kittens become more beautiful as they mature! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I would love to see what they look like now, too!  I think it would be very interesting to see how they change as they grow up!  It's really much better for them to be separated for now.  They need their bonds with their mamas.

And I'm sorry to hear about the split with your mentor, but I'm sure it would be helpful to find another one.  What age were you hoping to breed your girls until?  I believe three litters per active female is standard.  Do you plan to keep your girls once they are retired and spayed?
