This is my first time on this site and my first time experiencing cat pregnancy, she stated bleeding really badly on friday so i took Peach to the vet and they just said that she was in labour and she should have her kittens over the weekend. That was fine all was good and she started having contractions and all that, she had her first kitten saturday morning but it was a still birth and premature. Shes after having her second one today about an hour ago and its the same thing. is this normal? i dont want to go back to the vet because all they did was take my money and not help me or give me advice in any way possible, ive tried to research as much as i could online. Peach seems comfortable and not in pain or anything a little down at the moment but thats to be expected, she normally a very friendly happy cat. I think she might have another kitten in her but i dont feel any movements. can anyone help or give me some advice?

No, it's not normal. How much is she bleeding? Is she still bleeding?

Yes, cats can have labor stop and start. It doesn't sound like she's in distress now.

She will need to go back to the vet if there is more bleeding, any discharge with any odor, or if she is struggling to push a kitten out for more than 45 minutes. If mom seems to be in distress for any other reason you should also call them.

She can also already get pregnant again, if she has no more kittens to deliver. If you'd like help finding a low-cost spay clinic please let us know.

We can definitely try, and we do have international members!  Where in Ireland are you?  You can just say a city you are near if you'd like.

Do you think that she still has kittens inside of her? Do you know when she mated?

Perhaps she will carry any remaining kittens to full term.

It's very sad about the first two. It sounds like the vet you went to on Friday is not experienced with pregnant cats. At this point, however, thete's not much a vet can do if she is not in distress.

Keep us posted.

i think she still has maybe 1 or 2 inside, i cant feel any movement of them but i dont want to touch her stomach too much just in case. im not really sure when she mated tbh, shes a house cat but i did tend to let her outside for a little while so she could get some fresh air and all that, was going through financial difficulty at the time so couldnt afford to get her splayed and when i was about too i noticed that she was pregnant, i hope she carries the rest to full term because is it heart breaking at the moment. shes happily asleep next to me here so shes pretty comfortable and in no pain or distress or anything which is a good sign. Yes tbh i dont think that the vet even looked at her, she was there for a few hours cos the vet was gone and when i went back down to get her they didnt say anything to me just that she was in the early stages of labor which i had guessed. they gave me no advice or details of why she bleed so much. they just took my money and sent us home. very unprofessional. Id lose my life is something happened to her like. ill just keep an eye on her and see how it goes. Yes i will keep you posted on how she gets on. :)

If the premature kittens had no fur, mom may have 2-3 more weeks left. Time will tell.

Hi guys just a quick update, peach took a turn for the worst yesterday, was bleeding heavily with a sore stomach, so I took her to the vet, she had one baby left that was starting to rot away and it was poisoning her so they operated on her and splayed her at the same time, she's now home and happy, just in recovery mode from the horrible weekend. Thanks so much for all you help [emoji]128516[/emoji]

good you did this emergency spaying in time.  The main thing Peach is better now.  Just to continue to watch and pray, so no more complications does occur.

Good luck!

Yeah, we're cuddled together on the couch now, she's loving all the attention, she's had a very hard couple of days and I'm going to make sure she's comfortable and happy so she can recover, please god nothing else happens to her

That's too bad. I was worried because she was bleeding and then had the two stillborn kittens. I'm glad she's on the road to recovery now and you won't have to worry about going through this again.
