My 8 week old kitten just got her first vaccine on Wednesday and after that she didn't want to eat dinner. Since Wednesday she has eaten probably 2 meals (in 5 days) instead of the normal 3 a day.

She just ate a few treats and so i decided to try and give her some fresh food again but she just looked away. She has been lethargic and has has diarrhea as well. She has had enough water to drink so she isn't dehydrated.

I read up on the side effects of this vaccine and its normal to have lose of appetite and tiredness but its almost been a week and she is getting skinnier and skinner and i am getting really worried about her.

If anyone has any advice on what i should do or if you have had a similar situation i would love to hear about it.

Thanks

This is very serious and I would suggest a vet visit is in order immediately.

When cats go longer than a few days without eating they get hepatic lipidosis, more commonly referred to as "fatty liver disease". When a cat (especially a kitten) is in starvation mode, their liver cannot process the fat being stored in it which causes the liver to shut down.

On top of the kitten not having a proper meal in days, the fact that she has diarrhea is another serious matter. You may think she's drinking enough water to stay hydrated but diarrhea dehydrated kittens severely and there is no way she could be drinking enough to make up for the water lost.

If I were you I would absolutely seek professional help as soon as possible. If there is no way you can get help tonight, you need to force feed that kitten some wet food to get something in her stomach.
