Hi,
I have fostered numerous cats over the years consequently I am the proud caretaker of 15 cats most of them shy because of their feral past lives. Although I can pick them up and give flea treatments a few are too frightened for me to easily get into a carrier. New cat I can not pick up up only pet due to an abusive prior home. Mau has an open sore on her neck. It is weeping about the size of a half dollar but enlongated. Each summer this sore appear but this year it is much worse. I had thought it was an old scar from a savage attack she suffered years ago but each year when her fur sheds I can see It is worse. I struggle with fleas despite treating all animals regularly figured it might be a hypersensitivity. I will try to get a pic but not easy. Meanwhile I will try to get her into a carrier. I feel my vet need to examine her.. Is there a good site I can visit for help and info because it may take time before I can catch her. I am worried sick.
Thank you for your consideration

Thank you for caring for her and wanting to help.  I would start by trying to feed her in the carrier.  Also would a trap be possible.  Since she is feral a trap might be easier.  Either way , I would start by feeding just outside the carrier or unset trap.  Gradually move the food into the carrier and further to the back.  If you are using a humane trap, make sure it is unset until you are ready to trap her.  You can just tie it open with string.  I would make arrangements with the vet that you are doing your best to catch her and would it be possible to bring her in on the spur of the moment.  Just keep moving the food back until she is eating there.  Then you are ready to close the door or set the trap.

Once you catch her be sure to cover the carrier or trap with a blanket as this will make her more comfortable.
