My cat went into heat the Monday after Easter, and escaped for a few days, we found her with a black Tom 4/8. For the past week or so she has leaked small amounts of clearish pink discharge off & on she acts very uncomfortable but we still see the kittens moving quite high & quite low (fingers in pictures are showing where we see/feel movement). When do they typically drop before labor? I have her nesting boxes set up in our walk in closet/bathroom with all ac vents closed so it's not drafty, this is the area she's been favoring lately. It also has food/water & a litter box set up that I've lined with paper towels. She mostly hangs out in the sink.

Your cat has just finished her ninth week of pregnancy, so she will likely give birth any day now. The pinkish discharge is another sign that her body is preparing for labor!

Do you plan to spay her after this litter weans?

Welcome to TCS!

Yes we definitely plan on spaying her, this was an accidental litter. She was a stray my Husband brought home, and before we were able to get her spayed she went into heat & escaped for a few days.

She's been very clingy the past couple hours & wants her belly rubbed the minute I stop she bites.

So far Callie has had 3 all black kittens, she gets very unhappy if leave the room. She's almost acting like she doesn't know what to do or how to clean them so I've had to dry them & help them find a nipple

Keep up the good work.  She's obviously a first-time mother and you are teaching by doing.  Of course she wants you there, so pull up a couch pillow or two and sleep by her nest.

She had a 4th very dark tabby kitten that's much smaller than the others she keeps shoving him out of the nest & under blankets so I've been giving him kmr & tried to get him to nurse. She watches me like a hawk but doesn't seem to mind much.

Excellent!  You must of course proceed to help this kitten if necessary.  Get a scale so you know she does gains minimum 6+grammes a day.

What kmr do you use?   Goats milk is too an alternative if need be.

Yeah, with a tabby momma you were practically a must to get at least one tabby kitten.  :)

Have you weighed the kittens yet? Are they nursing well?

What does the runt weigh?

Plan on hand raising this small runt for now. 1mL of KMR every hour and honey or Karo syrup on the gums. Keep the kitten warm at all times with a rice sock or hot water bottle. Has it been able to latch and nurse yet?

If she continues to reject the kitten, it may be iffy to leave it in the nest with her at night, as she can easily separate it. You'll need to supervise.

I have to buy a scale today everyone is nursing wonderful I have baby monitors set up so if I hear the kittens crying more than a few minutes I go check on them otherwise I've left Mama cat to have some privacy. I think she was feeling a bit overwhelmed at first but after I fed the runt & helped him find a nipple she hasn't pushed him away. We bought petag brand.

I haven't been able to weigh them yet, I have a rice heating pad in there along with fleece blankets. I fed the runt kmr & then helped him latch & Mama hasn't rejected him since, think she was overwhelmed at first & needed a little help.

It's good to hear they are all nursing and doing well, especially the runt. Let us know the weights after you get the scale. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
