My cat randomly started drooling, has a runny nose, sneezes, and wouldn't eat. However, now he just stares at walls, and hides. We tried feeding him medicine, but he threw it up. Now he won't even come out, and he hides. Do you have any idea what is going on? I'm seriously worried about him.

He throws up no matter what. The vet said that it was either an infection or the flu. He won't even drink or anything.

If a cat's not eating some sugar water or drop of syrup rub on gums or touch of honey something sweet

give a few minutes they normally start eating.

lethargic:

Make some pedialyte home made for him syringe that to him (they wont normally drink it)

scroll down just click off any banner that pops up right hand arrow ;) (or ask more questions) some info there for you as well may assist.

Steam up your washroom take him in there the steam can help his passages.

1/2 hr to an hour the longer the better I find.

How old is he?  The Vet is the one who can truly diagnose what's going on with your kitty.

The sugar water and syrup on gums didn't work.

We think it's a stroke. Would that make sense, or no?

It sounds much more like an infection of flu / virus to me, like you vet has suggested.

It is very important that you try and get your cat to eat and take in some liquid, and the longer he doesn't eat the harder it gets as he starts to feel sick because of not eating.  One poblem when a cat has an infection where they have a runny nose is they don't smell their food and get interested in it in the same way.  It is well worth trying him with really strong smelling foods like fishy ones, even if they are not cat food it will be better that he eats.  Mackeral or pilchards can work well.  Wet foodd is good as he needs the liquids too.   If he is hiding and you know where, leave the food close to him.   Cats often hide when they feel unwell so it is not unusual.

I hope you see in improvment in him very soon.

Even if he can't smell it, he can still see it.

Cats don't have great eyesight, esp for things which are not moving, and apetite is helped significantly with smell.
