hi, my cat (emily) gave birth to two kittens but the second one died :'(

we felt three kittens before she gave birth to the two kittens we thought she had interruption labor which lasts 36 hours it been three days and

still no signs of labor .

i noticed she has been meowing a lot and she leaves the child many times just to sit outside i feel like she is losing interest in winnie (the kitten)

is that normal and she doesn't go to pee since giving birth .

is that usual ?

what could happen to the baby inside (if their is one) ?

can interruption labor spend more than 36 hours ?

can cats lose interest in their only kitten ?

Yes, cat labor can be interrupted by hours or even days.

You need to keep your cat inside, closed in a room with her kitten, so she will care for it. She does not need to go outside or wander the house at this time.

She may be meowing because she is uncomfortable and possibly still laboring.

Has the kitten been nursing?

Has mom cat had any wet food or water since giving birth? She will eventually use her litter box.

Please pick up a can of powdered KMR and a small, needleless syringe in case you need to supplement the kitten. PetAg is best. Mom can have a dish a day too. She needs the calcium.

It will also help if you can weigh the kitten each day to be sure it is getting enough milk from mom.  You want to see that it is gaining at least 6-10 grams per day.  If not, you should begin supplementing.

thank you sarthur2,

yes she has been nursing the kitten

actually, we made her a bed which she stayed at for a day the she wanted to move next morning i found her and the kitten in my closet over me bag i made things comfortable for her so she is in a closed area

emily has been eating and drinking but in my house animal shop ae far so i didn't have the chance to bring wet food

but she seems to be eating dry food for mother and baby that we brought but she doesn't eat much but she still nurses the kitten

If you can tell us how much the kitten weighs we can help you figure out how much/if it needs supplementing.

Mom can get pregnant within a week of delivery and without going into heat, so it's very important that she stay inside, away from intact males, and with the baby.  It sounds like she is happy with her new closet nest.  Are her water, food, and litter box nearby?

Can you provide the mom with wet food as soon as possible? She needs it, along with the dry food, to produce good milk for her kitten.

She may need an x-ray to determine if she has more kittens and how they are doing if she does not give birth to them in the next couple of days.

I'm glad you've got her settled with her food, water, and litter nearby. Good to hear she is nursing the baby.

winnie is only 1.5 days old so i can't get his weight  but he is eating a lot and he seems happy

and yes food, water, and the litter box are near

we don't have a garden so she just walks in the house

there are no male cats she got pregnant because my mom's friend has a male cat so we sent her there a while so that she can play with him and she ended up pregnant
