Hi, I TNR ferals, as,well as feed and shelter outside. I have 3 rescued kitties inside...2 I rescued as feral kitties in January about 8 weeks old. Monday they received shots, and were neutered. At first, one of them seemed to recover but now is just grazing and just came and sat on my blanket and peed on me. The other has been spacey since Monday...not sleeping, just grazing, and not playing with his brother. Before neutering, they were inseparable. Is this normal?

Welcome to TCS and bless you for taking in those 2 kitties!

Have you called your cats' vet yet?  I have not had that kind of reaction for most of my spay/neuters. However, it could be that they were given pain medications (something that my regular vet doesn't offer) because I recall that happening to Joey & JC but that was about 11 years ago.  Another thought is that they might still be having pain - I had one young guy who took awhile getting over his surgery and I think that it was because the junior vet wasn't as proficient as the regular vet at performing the surgery.

I am sure that you will be getting some better advice soon! Some of the members here are blessed to have cat specialists in their area, who are at the forefront of pain management in cats. Around here, our cats are expected to "cowboy up" because there isn't the funding for research for cats as there is for dogs.

You might consider re-posting in the Health & Care forums and get some good answers and tips there. Meanwhile, sending prayers and vibes for speeding healing for your boys

Thanks for your response. They are finally back to normal....sleeping and playing together again. Thank goodness!
