I have not used it and would never use it because there are much safer ingredients available to do the same thing.  After reading the reviews on the Australian site http://www.productreview.com.au/p/profender.html, my suspicions were confirmed.  25 negative to 9 positive, and the negatives are really sad.  This is not a safe product, put it on the shelf with Hartz please.

Thank you for your input!

Sounds like the more reviews we get on the product, the better. So, it's in the Reviews section and in case anyone has used it, it would be great if they could leave a review.

I was given profender to treat tapeworms. I asked for drontal but i was stuck in traffic and it took 4 hours for the vet to call me. They told me (even though they had seen her less than a week before) i would have to bring her in to weigh her. It was now Sat late afternoon in one of the fifth biggest cities in U.S. and I was afraid i wouldn't make it back w meds if i stopped at home to get her. Regardless they gave me a printout exculding side effects making me think "oh no big deal this medicine is just easier to administer." Then i gave it to her, sat down to smoke and looked up and saw all these horror stories from profender. A day short of 3 wks. Of giving her profender her back two legs didn't want to move right (like they were partially paralyzed). She seems like she is having tremors too.

I have been giving Profender to three cats for several years now and the only side effect was when i didn't put it up high enough on their neck, they licked it, and foamed at the mouth, nothing else happened. I put it up high now, almost between the ears. I thought if they got tremors it indicated too high of a dose, check with Pet Meds on the internet and see what was indicated for your cat. Three weeks later is definitely too long to have those symptoms, I would definitely call the vet and see what they recommend to do. Something definitely isn't right. Keep us posted on what you find out!

I didn't notice any symptoms until three weeks later that was the weird thing. Dead worms were still coming out of her. On wk 3 (the beginning) we noticed she was shaking and her back two legs weren't walking right. When i first bought her the pet store told me they had treated her for fleas but i found out later they never did. Then after clearing up the few fleas she did have 3 days later i noticed over 30 rice like things on my bed and woke up with a live worm in my hand. The dose the vet gave me was for 2 to 5 lbs. I saw dead worms for three or more weeks and read that the medicine is active in their system for 30 days. So i took her to a different vet and (this whole day every 15 min i lifted her tail I'd see a live worm come out so i put a napkin in a ziploc bag and put the worms in there. I showed it to the vet, they confirmed tapeworms and then i showed her how since treated w profender i had noticed shaking of her head (three weeks later) and strange walking. Last night she was walking sideways! Anyway, after going to that vet they gave her doncit (low side effects and specifically for tapeworms). And an hour later she fell down in her litterbox while using the restroom (pooping) i felt sorry for her i picked her up when she was done and it was full of segmented tapeworms. I got her to take the pill by buying a can of fancy feast and (bc her head was shaking so bad i had to swipe the oily substance off the top and put it on my finger. She would lick it off. We were up till 3 am that night but since no notice of worms etc. Bit still shaking and walking funny from back legs. The vet was very quick to say it was a condition called c.h. but i read up on it and it is a non progressive illness. So i know i would have noticed it.bc i bought her at 8 wks I'm not working right now and i watch her all day. I swear she was fine until profender. My bf and my daughter had noticed it too. Poor thing tries to do things she used to do but can't. She has great control of her front two paws but not the back. I noticed the vet i used didn't treat w profender. I had to call vets to make sure they would give droncit before i made an appt w a vet 45 min away just to get it. I wish i had used drontal originally. But i didn't know. We trust our vets and she never got the skin stuff loss of hair or anything just the worse stuff. I go back on the 9th to her original vet and I'm gonna show her the dramatic change in my kiity. They saw her a few times after i bought her to get her shots. She gets her rabies shot on the 9th. Now she is 3 1/2 months old. Wow what a crazy ride. I love her anyway. My back is screwed up i tell her "we're all messed up here but we love u anyway."she used to could jump on my bed which is high no problem now i have to help her.she
