Aw, poor thing sounds really miserable. Do you plan to mate her again?

She is definitely getting close, though hard to tell if she's just uncomfortable from being so pregnant or from being in early stages of labor. Are you seeing discharge?

I probably won't mate her again and fostering I was going to do with ino and take in some abandoned kittens and bottle feed/have ino adopted as her own. The shelter by me said that I would be able to do that and would love to have a mama cat for some newborn kittens but then declined it because I have an intact female (because she was going to be foster mom). So that's kind of confusing. Haha. I plan to foster though in the future.

I just would like to know for now, though, if it does sound like labor and how soon I should expect kittens?:)

Once she has delivered and you see how big the litter is, you can say you have a nursing mom and they will probably have some babies that need a mom.

Ino is fluctuating in temperatures 99.5-98.8, she's been expressing nesting behaviors, heavy breathing (no panting), pacing, restlessness for a little over a day, and I'm the last 12 hours her milk doubled, can squeeze and get milk to show up, her belly appeared to have dropped and her belly is harder and kittens seem tighter packed.

Is this going on longer than usual though? She keeps going in and out of signs of being in labor. The only thing that's really consistent is her wanting to look at you in the eyes whether you're near or far, and when it comes to her bottom, she cries and meows for you not to look at it or touch it. What's going on and how much longer should I wait until needing medical assistance for possible labor being long?

It sounds like she could be close or have another 24 - 48 hours to go.  Each cat is different so there is no exact answer.   If you must take her temp, do it under her arm.  Add 3 degrees.

Is this her first litter?  She is probably in pain and is unsure of what is happening.  If you are concerned, call the vet and ask questions over the phone.  Don't take her in unless it's necessary.  A vet trip would be stressful.  Stay with her and give love and praise.  You can also play some classical music to help soothe her.

Yes, prelabor can take time.  Its active labor with pushing which shall not be too long.  With cats the active phase is shorter than with humans.

But the prelabor may be different.  Sometimes hardly noticeable, sometimes very noticeable....

Good you are vigilant, thoght.

She had 5 kittens, only 4 made it. :( one came out where it's intestines were on the outside from birthing. :/ and the first one she wouldn't let me help her and calm her down and so that kittens foot was caught and damaged by the cord. Other than that, the 4 surviving are nice and healthy :)

Congratulations! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

So sorry one did not make it. Intestines outside the body is rare, but happens. [emoji]128533[/emoji]

What seems to be the problem with the foot? Perhaps it will heal or can be fixed.

Are all 4 nursing well? [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Sorry to hear about the little one who didn't make it.  Is the one with the hurt foot ok now?  Are they all settled and nursing?  Did you get weights?

I haven't managed to get weights because I had to pack all the little ones up and go to the emergency hospital. :( the hurt foot kitten, I was told it heals by itself but it's like, molded to be straight. :/

Congratulations!

Sorry about the little one.  It was nothing you did, intestines on the outside is a birth defect.  There is nothing that can be done for these little guys since they are too small for surgery.

Post some pictures if you can.
