My daughters cat went into heat and despite telling the kids not to let her out, no matter what until we can get into vet...my two year old so kindly let her out "cause she was crying momma"

It was about two months ago (i didn't think to write down days). About a week and a half to two ago i was able to feel the babies kicking up a storm. This last five days we can see it occasionally.

Today she's hopping basket to basket in the basement (i sorted the kids outgrown clothes into sizes) and crying. She is pawing at the kids, sleeping and eating.

She's huge. I feel bad for her. Her stomach is hard as a rock. Been watching her closely. But i think I'm more concerned cause she can't be comfortable.

She also had been trying to get out. I have a basket for her. Tonight while doing laundry i catch her going behind dryer.

Tell me she's not as uncomfortable as i think she is. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions.

Your cat is beautiful! To me, it sounds  like she is nesting and very close to having her kittens. My cat "Mama" acted the way your cat is a few days before she had her kitten. Her belly also felt hard.  It's normal for her to feel uncomfortable, much like when you have a baby. She could even be in the early stages of labor. Hopefully, one of the advisors can chime in on that, they have more experience than I do.

I am pasting in links that were given to me when I first joined the cat site. There is a lot of great and helpful information!

I'm glad you found us!

It's usually about 2-3 weeks after you started feeling kitten movement. Do you know when you first felt them move? Or first noticed that her nipples were pink? Regardless, she's close now.

Now is a good time to set up some nest areas for mom. Think dark, quiet places like a closet with the door ajar. You want to avoid baskets with holes in them. Kitten heads can get stuck with disastrous results. Litter box, food, water, etc should all be close to the nest.

You will also want to get some kitten supplies - a small scale to weigh them daily, and kitten milk replacer and a needleless syringe in case they aren't gaining enough. For the kmr, look for powdered, and we always recommend PetAg as a brand.

Can you keep mom 100% inside until her kittens are weaned? She can get pregnant again within a week of delivery, and without going into heat. Maybe you need to implement a two-door system until she can be spayed.

And last, she should be eating as much dry and wet kitten food as she wants now and through when she's done nursing. Dry can be down all the time and wet should be offered several times a day.

She will be inside after birth until she's fixed.

And she's still pregnant. Offering moist food multiple times daily and dry food and water at all times.

She does appear smaller this morning. Like the kittens rearranged themselves, maybe they are preparing to be born? Either way she won't let anyone touch her right now

Maybe she is laboring. Do you see any contractions? Ripples in her tummy?

I saw what might have been rippling. She's calm again and sleeping on the couch next to me

She's still pregnant, it was kitten movement the other day.

She got out yesterday, so i put her moist food on the porch and she came back.

But she was meowing and licking. So I've let her relax and check up on her.

This poor baby has got to be miserable. Though yesterday night she was digging in my closet so i cleaned it completely and put I. a towel.

Of course she's my daughters baby and she just left for dads house Friday.I'm sure she will deliver in the middle of me writing my comp 1 paper lol
