(Earlier) I just now received an update on Lilbit from the vet. She has a large mass on her intestine and the small intestine is wrapped around it. The doc said that there is nothing that can be done. She will be made comfortable until we can get there to say our good byes. This afternoon we went to the vets office to see her for the last time. To say that Jan and I and her brother 'Socks' will miss her dearly is an understatement. She and 'Socks' have been a blessing in our lives. She will suffer no longer. I didn't know my heart could hurt so much. Lilbit is the Calico on the left. Socks is her brother. They are 17 years old and we have had them for 12 years. We got them at a shelter in La Grange, Texas.

Lilbit, we miss you. You will always be in our hearts. Thank you for 12 wonderful years.

Oh my that photo of Lilbit and Socks...what a sweet pair. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can tell that she was loved and cherished every day of her life here with you and Jan. Take comfort...Lilbit is at peace and free from pain across the Rainbow Bridge.

 I have had to put two cats to sleep recently and the pain and grief is overwhelming.   I know how bad you are feeling. Both of your cats are absolutely beautiful. I hope that Socks is doing okay....
I am so, so sorry for your loss.

Thank you. Socks is okay but he knows something isn't right. Those two were together their entire lives.

That sweet little calico gave you 12 years of love and devotion, all she wanted in return was the same and she now rests in peace knowing she was so very loved. I know how empty the house can feel without their presence in it, how dark the world seems without her light. But there comes a time when life becomes too much, and there is nothing we can do except to make sure the suffering does not continue on. You took away that pain, and she thanks you for it, I'm sure the bond you formed with her is an everlasting one, and you can call on all those special memories to bring you comfort. She was a very loved family member and will be so terribly missed, but I know she would never want you to be in such pain because of her, you need to comfort each other and her brother as only family can do.  Try not to grieve, you gave her 12 years of the happiest times in her and her brothers life, be proud that you gave her so much of yourself. Please accept my condolences on your loss, she was a beautiful little soul. Bless your herats for loving her so much............RIP sweet Libit, you left the world a darker place with your passing, but the beautiful star that is you shines brightly in the night sky,,,,,,be safe and be happy and wait for those that will join you!

Thank you Di and Bob.......We do love Lilbit and Socks. The sadness of her not being here is overwhelming. I know time passing will help. Thank you again for those kind words. They are comforting and reassuring.......My wife just read this and remarked "What a beautiful way to put it". She IS a beautiful star in the night sky".

Bless you for rescuing these two beautiful kitties.  I am very sorry for your loss of Lilbit.  It warms my heart knowing that she had wonderful people to love her.

He was just in my lap and I can tell he is wondering where his sister is. He searches around the house. Thanks for your kind words. This has been harder that I thought it would be.

Socks is doing okay, I guess. Whenever we come in the front door he runs to us. I'm thinking he's looking to see if we have Lilbit. I don't know for sure. Jan has the hardest time at bedtime because Lilbit slept on her pillow with her every night. She says that now she wishes she still had cat butt in her face. lol  Me? I have my moments. I am concentrating on Socks and Jan now. It's weird. The house seems empty now. Although we know it's not. Thanks for asking.
