I'm relatively new to this site and had posted asking help for our super precious kitty, Momma-Kat

Thanks so much for all the helpful information and we tried, so hard; but my poor girl's lungs were too far gone.

Sadly, because she was not getting enough oxygen and was suffering, I held her in my arms while balling my eyes out and said goodbye to TRULY,  one of my very best friends.

Momma was a throw-away.  Momma was a terrific little cat, barely more than a kitten when we found her dumped on our road.

WHAT A TROOPER, she was a tough SMART kitty who we welcomed into our home about 9 years ago.

This is from around 5 years ago:

4 Years ago a young cat was dropped on our road during one of the worst winters in years. She was very scared and wouldn't come to me but eagerly chowed down the food I would leave under our deck each night for her.

The next spring we made friends and that's when I noticed her fat little belly had more than just our kibble in it.

Weeks later in a torrential downpour, she showed up at our garage (we progressed to in the garage feedings) and I felt sure that she would be giving birth any moment.

Little did I know; she had already had her 4 babies, but still looked pregnant.

That night while she was eating, I lowered our garage door so it was only open about 6-8 inches. The moment Momma-Kat saw this; she bolted.

Around midnight, in the pouring rain with thunder and lightning just outside the door; I watched in amazement as this small, brave Momma slipped under my garage door with a tiny kitten in her mouth!

That was the last of 4 babies she had made trips back & forth until she had all of them safely in our warm dry garage.

I closed the door and brought blankets, food, water, a litter box, and dried that poor, tired, drenched cat off.

We meant to have them all fixed and just keep the "Momma-Kat" but we just couldn't split them up.

Our family now consists of Momma-Kat, Tiger, Rudy, M-J, & Butterfly (our stormy-night additions) Sky (a Siberian Husky), and Scruffy (our old boy.)

Well, sadly we just lost our beloved dog, Sky just 2 months ago.  Scruffy passed 3 years ago.

Momma-Kat was given a proper burial and is now across the rainbow bridge snuggling Scruffy and probably being chased around by Sky.

Her four babies, all HUGE sweet cats 9 years old; are just now figuring out that Momma isn't coming home.

Momma's Momma (me,) is still crushed.  You see, I'm disabled and have had a very rough few years and Momma-Kat was always right by my side.

She really was one of my best friends and although I've been through this many, many times before; it doesn't get any easier.  In fact, this was especially hard since I just had to go through putting Sky to "sleep" just 2 months ago.

Momma-Kat will never be forgotten, she lives on in M.J. (her twin baby, Momma, Junior) and Rudy, Tiger, and especially Butterfly (who practically slept on top of Momma-Kat every time she could.  Butterfly followed Momma like her shadow.

Momma-Kat surely was and always will be loved and forever in our lives.  The bravest little cat I've ever had the pleasure to fall in love with.  Thank you my angel for giving us the privilege of loving you and your babies who will be taken care of and snuggled until the day you greet them, over the rainbow bridge. xoxoxo -your Mommies, Sandi & Kim

I am very sorry for your recent losses. You are right about it not getting easier. If anything, it gets harder each time. Momma Kat was lucky to have you---her best friend who kept the family together. I hope you, MJ, Rudy, Tiger and Butterfly all find peace and comfort together.

Sweet, precious Momma-Kat, she was so lucky to have you in her life, and you were so fortunate to have known and loved her. It hurts so very much when they have to leave us, but there is no way you would have wanted her to suffer one more minute, she was too precious for that to happen. She needed you so very badly and you were there, at the beginning when she gifted you with her kittens, and at the end when she so desperately needed her momma nearby. to comfort her and to let her know it was OK to go, you would watch over her family that was left behind. My heart breaks for your loss, i know how empty the house feels and how long it takes to heal a broken heart. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, remember the bond you forged with that little girl will be with you forever,  your memories will comfort you when the tears threaten to fall. She would never want you to be so sad when remembering your times together. take care.......RIP sweet Momma-Kat, you were so very loved and will be held forever in loving hearts!

Thank you for sharing Momma-Kats story with us. She sounds like a very special girl. I am so sorry that you lost her. You did a beautiful and kind thing to give her and her babies a loving home, bless you. If you can it would be nice to see a few pictures of her.
