I took in a little foster kitten Lily. She is less than a pound but her personality is huge she acts like she is big as a lion. The problem is litter training. If she stays in the laundry room she will go in the litter box great. But the minute I let her out more than a few minutes to roam she will pee and poop every where. I make sure she know where the boxes are but she still does her business on the carpet. So she is confined to the laundry room. I just feel so guilty because she is so little and all alone. How do I get her to go where she is supposed to.

Hi, how old is Lily?

Do you have litter boxes available in the other areas of the house that she frequents?

She certainly needs socialization, but clearly short, supervised periods right now with boxes nearby.

By weight she is only about 4 weeks old but by the way she acts and moves I think the 5 to 6 week range. I have one in the laundry room with her then there is one in the kitchen and one in the living room. The way they are not to far. It's the places she has used. She was found on a construction site with her sister. She is beautiful and her face is a little smoshed in. You cant tell in the picture but she is clearly tabby but she has dark spots on her that remind you of a calico. She is very unique.

This was a few minutes ago:

The day I got her:

I would keep putting her in the box before and after meals and other various times. She'll catch on. She's still in the learning curve!

I used an extra fabric shower curtain with my last foster kitten.  Spread it out on the floor - it covers a fairly large area, and let the kitten play on that in the family room.  They are water (and pee) resistant.  I tried a vinyl tablecloth but the kitten didn't like the feel of it.  It probably also still had that plasticy odor that he could smell.  Put a small litter box at one end and if you see the kitten squatting just relocate to the box.
