I did laundry today and mistakenly included a new t shirt in a load that had a bright red pot holder
I noticed the pinkish stains right away and rubbed some stain remover on it and then rewashed it alone with a Tide Boost Stain Release pod. The pinkish stains haven't budged . It's a light blue pima cotton t shirt. The stains aren't too noticable but it's driving me nuts
The damp t shirt is drying on a rack right now. Is there a way to remove the stains?

I don't know about other countries but in Australia we can buy a packet of Dylon Run Away from the supermarket. It's kind of like bleach (but I don't think it actually is) so if you have a t-shirt with a design on it it maybe not a good idea but it works like magic.

One of the best stain removers I have found is peroxide stain and urine remover for cats.  Spray it on and let it soak for an hour over the entire shirt, it wouldn't hurt. I have removed stains with this when nothing else worked. Also look for 'miracle' instant stain removers, usually in a can and for carpets, they work very well too, good luck!

It's a plain t shirt. It's pima cotton which is a silkier fancier type of cotton so I'm worried about damaging the fabric
The shirt dried overnight on a rack so I don't think the stains have set in permanently. Has anyone tried OxyClean or something similar?

Give OxyClean a try if you have some. . .it's supposed to work for that. If not, try one of the specific color run products. As long as you don't put it in the dryer, it shouldn't set.

what about toothpaste-white plain paste kind? I use toothpaste for all kinds of stains. It works on our teeth-keeps the coffee stains and etc away. wont hurt. I think colors run more in warm water so maybe wet that area with warm water that you are trying to get the dye out. cold water is recommended for bright colors=so not sure if the hot water would help lift the rest of the dye out but its hard to only keep part of the shirt out of the water?

Bought some OxyClean stain remover and the powder stuff today. The supermarket didn't have a great selection of stain remover products. I rubbed the stain remover in and let that sit while I had dinner. Then I soaked the shirt in the OxyClean powder and water for an hour or so. Then I rewashed it in the machine in cold water. The pinkish stains are lighter now but still there
I'll try Target for the Carbona Color Run Remover product.

I don't know about dye from other clothes but hairspray sometimes works for ink.  Hairspray doesn't work as well as it used to because it generally doesn't have as much alcohol in it as it used to.  If you try it make sure you don't try an alcohol free hairspray.  Put a paper towel under the shirt and soak the area with hairspray.  Let it sit a few minutes then blot.

If Oxyclean didn't work, try regular bleach. Wash the shirt as a small load with a quarter cup or so of regular bleach. Don't soak it, and don't leave it. Let the washing machine run the regular cycle. That should take the rest of the stain out, and it won't damage your pima cotton unless you bleach it numerous times. Bleach will take out colors that have run from another piece of clothing, but shouldn't damage the original color of your shirt. Obviously, the red dye in the pot holder wasn't fast; most dyes today are fast, meaning they don't run like the pot holder did.

I'm looking at the Clorox web site and besides the regular bleach, there are several stain remover products including pods that go in the washing machine. Should I try one of those or just the regular bleach?

The bleach didn't work
It just faded the t shirt from blue to light purple and the pink dye stains are even more noticable now
I'll just wear the t shirt around the house.
