Newbie here...we got Paige from my in-laws about a week ago. Though she was the only kitten in her litter (Mama cat's second litter - she had five kittens in her first), my in-laws are sure she had at least two or three siblings that must have died in the birthing process. Anyway, we brought her home right at 8 weeks, which I know is very young, but mom cat was kind of neglecting her anyway. She wasn't using the box at all when my in-laws had her, and they had separate litter boxes for she and mom. When we got her, I was afraid we were bringing home a nightmare, but she's used her box immediately from minute one, plays with our kids, and seems genuinely happy to be at our home. It almost seems too good to be true...

Enjoy her, she is so sweet!

The same happened with me.  I adopted Speedy, my siamese calico about five years ago and was worried when I took her home.  She was surrendered by previous owners to the rescue in "rough shape".   She has been amazingly sweet everyday and is very mild-mannered since the day she came to live with me.  The funny thing is, she has a similar pattern on her face like Paige.  One side black, one side apricot/white.  I do not have a camera, but I wish I could post a photo for you.   Speedy and I wish you many good times together, I think you have a special kitty there!  And welcome to TCS!!

The stray cat my family adopted has a very similar marking!

When we took her to the vet to get spayed after she had her kittens at our house, the vet and the techs were very surprised at how friendly and easy-going she was. They were expecting her to be difficult based on her tortie markings!
