Hello,
im starting a new thread i hope that is ok,I have another thread going but its gotten long and the details-like what my cat is doing and what ive done so far have gotten lost within the thread.I have a 8 yr old male cat,Timone, who has a loving personality,he is cuddly,we are very close,he acts like a dog, greets me when i walk in,curious, energetic etc.
until the 21st of may.he started showing abnormal beh like scared tio death of noises, sensitive to sounds, staring at walls like something was there, dilated pupils (constricted with direct light),frequent sniffing around him.wouldnt eat or drink.wasnt using potty.he then had a 'episode' where he felt stiff,he made a gurgling like noise and his eyes rolled back with facial twitching.the vet said it was a seizure and to go to er.Er dr said cats have convulsant seizures so that wasnt seizure (THAT ISNT TRUE)his bladder feels sensitive so here is a shot of convenia for bladder infection.
over the weekend he continued to have episodes-3 a night (only at night) they were focal seizures--facial twitching, unresponsive, stiff, muscles visibly tightened.didnt eat or drink either for first few days.would only eat tuna which he used to get as a treat once in awhile.
The seizures then progressed within a short period of up to 15 episodes a night with paddling of front legs, "chewing" for lack of a better word, and they started to last longer up to 10 mins.
Long story short--he has been to er 3 times at 2 diff locations, vets, hospitalized once, saw a neurologist,A1 cardiologist at OSU. no answers.
Basically a dr at the 2nnd ER told me when this first started after the 1st er gave him the convenia that this was neurological. I didnt believe her bc at that point we had only done a thyroid test and biochem. not even a cbc yet and i thought this was jumping to conclusions.i asked for something to control seizures and she gave me keppa.i went to a vet who had a good rep for a 2nd opinion.timone had seizures there,he also had his uneven pupil size moments there.vet gave him pheno. sinze pheno the seizures have went down in quantity and severity, but he is still not timone.
He is still having episodes, now he has weird breathing patterns during the episodes too. when he isnt having a episode he stares into space like he is stuck in the preictal phase.if it werent for the seizures idk if he would eat much either it seems the only time he eas a good amount is after a seizure.
bc he still isnt himself, i recently took him to see a neuro (last tuesday) at the hospital where the dr said it was a neuro problem. i showed videos to the neuro of what timone is doing now and he said it isnt a seizure bc he isnt paddling,or drooling even tho his eyes are open,he is stiff, unresponsive.he said it sounds to me like heart (also a cardioBNP test i requested showed 6x normal range) so thats why i took him to the cardiologist.she did ekg and echo of heart all normal.soft murmur found but no heart defects.the neuro there had a quick look at his records i brought and said its definitely neurological and to think about mri and spinal tap carefully bc if it is cancer and i cant do chemo then we would just treat the symptoms-which im doing with the pheno.
The only other symptoms are on may 28th the day after he got home from vet overnight stay,he started having sneeze attacks (usually after seizure but sometimes randomly too),rubbing his head, ice cold clear nasal drip.
ive tried to make this short as possible,in summary here are highlights:

abnormal behaviors:
unequal pupils for 10-20 seconds which correct themselves--see link for pic
https://dochub.com/dezaraesmitha26a1734/p5RokD/pupils3
rapid then slow breathing
lip muscles contract on left side making lip go straight back on the left but the right side has his regular, relaxed smile like state
condition of nails-i just noticed 2 nails are black and all of them look brittle.some look pretty pink.1 has split down in 3 spots with fur stuck in it!his nails have always been healthy!
sneeze/nasal drip
walks sometimes now with tail pointed down-he used to always walk with his tail straight up in the air like a happy baby
sometimes make weird gurgling/cross between wheeze and growl noise while sleeping,
freq scratches/ shakes head like how a wet dog would to dry its fur
temp was 99-100 at all vet visits 4 times until cardio it was 103.3
no energy-barely walks around let alone run like he used to

blood work done-same lab diff dates-the comparison is crazy to me.
1st blood work at hosp 5/23/16 was biochem and thyroid-nothing significant showed up everything was in normal range.

2nd at vet drawn on 5/27/16 the following are mildly low proteins, low RBC,low potassium, calcium, low hgb, pretty significantly low lymphocytes, eosinophil
high glucose

all infectious diseases are pretty much negative.fcov was inconclusive by my vet but i called the lab and they said cats with exposure are way higher than 1:10

he is only 8 yrs old, im in such denial that it is neurological but ive tested everything else...anyone had an experience like this?anyone any ideas?cancer?it cant be lymphoma i dont think bc his lymphnodes arent swollen...

here is link to videos of seizures:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnv1qX_NVqZTCgINfUlwQrA

Oh yes I did read that exact website axtually! I thought since he wasn't having balance issues or head tilt or vomiting and he walks ok I thought to myself no way is it that.and I also didn't think a brain tumor bc the symptoms started so abruptly and they have changed rapidly ..the vet did say typically it's over a period of time it isn't abruptly but every cat is different ..is your baby sick too?

I have an old blind one who is lethargic and who vomited dinner last night about an hour after eating.  I'm watching him.  Did he eat too fast?  Was it because it was tuna which they seldom get?  Does he have something seriously wrong?  You know, all those questions you ask yourself while trying to figure out if something is wrong or if it's just normal cat stuff.  He just ate again tonight and he's in the bedroom alone so if there is any vomiting, I will know who it is.
