I have a 5 year old black, indoor, female, dsh. We absolutely love her. We adopted her about 4 years ago. she had struvite crystals when we first got her, so our vet prescribed hills c/d, which we feed her, exclusively. Ever since we got her (she was about 1 or 2 yo), she has episodes while sleeping, where she will twitch violently (almost like she is having a nightmare), while sleeping and urinate. This probably happens about 2 times per week. She has had many tests done, and all have come back normal, except her urine specific gravity tests, which was slightly abnormal. The vet didn't seem concerned about it, and I believe she tested it again and it was fine. We saw another vet who thought it was a psychogenic issue.

Does anyone know what could be causing this, or have experience with a situation like this? Thank you :-)

Hi, and welcome to TCS :wavey:

The best I can come up with is some form of epilepsy. The violent twitching and loss of bladder control are classic signs of a seizure. Other than that, I'm stumped. Maybe other members will have some ideas. I think it's really important to work with a vet to get to the bottom of this - it's certainly not good for your girl to be having these episodes regularly, whatever the cause. Try to get video footage of an episode if you can - it may help the vet begin to pinpoint the cause. [article="22453"][/article]
