I think we have a "Day" for just about everything here in the US. :lol3:

So, in honor of the day, do you like donuts? What do you like?

I like Boston Cream Donuts and ones filled with real cream. I also wouldn't turn down a chocolate honey dipped. I rarely eat them though.

My boss brought donuts today in honor of the holiday! :lol3:

I can't pass up any kind of donut :/. But if I had to choose favorites, it would be pudding-filled (especially lemon) and blueberry cake donuts.

Glazed is my top pick but I also love  apple cider. The farm I get my market boxes from makes small ones fresh daily and it's tough to pass them up, although I did this morning in lieu of a blueberry pound cake

Tom got his mom's homemade doughnut recipe after she passed last year.  It's hand written, and a bit tough to decipher intent but I pretty much understand the instructions.  We keep meaning to try it out.  I'm home today, so maybe in honor of the day we'll attempt it.

I love donuts. Krispy Kreme is my favourite but I don't get them often since there's not many of those left (closest one is a couple hours away). I love the regular glazed ones and the whipped cream filled.

I don't really like Tim Hortons anymore. Pre-cooked donuts that are just reheated and glazed or filled isn't really worth the calories to me.

We only have a Dunkin Donuts around here, although I think there's a Curry Donuts place in a neighboring town. Down in the York, PA area, there's Maple Donuts and they're probably the best donut store I've been to; Rick really likes them, too, and if we're down in the area, we usually stop on the way home. The donuts are huge and we've never had a bad donut there......is there such a thing as a bad donut??
 I don't think so!

When Rick goes to Portland, he always goes to VooDoo Donuts. He even bought a shirt from VooDoo; he says their donuts are simply spectacular.

Anyway, my favorite from Dunkin Donuts is sour cream glazed, followed closely by apple crumb. They have a good specialty donut, which is a chocolate-filled chocolate donut. Square instead of round. They're a little more expensive than their regular donuts. I just love chocolate. Sometimes when Dear Richard is bowling early on Thursdays in the winter, he'll stop and bring home 6 donuts for us to share. And he usually grabs a blueberry muffin for me as a special treat.

Most of you know that I've started making donuts here. Rick's mother taught me about making donuts and since she can't do them anymore, it's fallen to me. I finally made them by myself this past spring and they came out well. I also have a donut pan and make the cake-type donuts now, too. King Arthur has some good donut mixes, if anybody's interested.

Sorry for writing so much about donuts! Sometimes I get carried away.

I could go crazy in America for doughnuts. I like custard filled ones.

I do like doughnuts!  I don't eat them often though.  Ones that I like in no particular order:

Apple Fritter
Boston Cream (chocolate covered with cream filling)

Jelly busters (like a Boston Cream only coated with sugar and filled with jam)
Crullers

And sometimes I just like the plain glazed ones.

A new doughnut place opened up in my city earlier in May.  They sell gourmet doughnuts.  One of my friends bought a lemon curd filled buster for $4.00!!!!!!  It was no bigger than a normal doughnut. And she was really disappointed.  She was expecting lemon filling in every bite. She said there was barely 2 teaspoons in the whole doughnut.

I have heard of the place in Portland, don't remember where but I have heard of it.  It would be wasted on me though, my favorite is a warm fresh glazed yeast donut.

I love apple fritters and bear claws!

There's a bakery in the next town over that specializes in what they call zebra donuts. It's chocolate and regular dough twisted together. They have all kinds of donuts made with zebra dough. They're all really good! I hardly ever get over there to buy some though. There's nothing else in that town ;) so I have to make a special trip.

How very sad.

This thread has me obsessing over doughnuts now! I ordered a doughnut cutter from eBay.  I'll likely never use it though because I really hate baking!  LOL
