Hi. Im fostering a kitten for the ASPCA. We've had her 1.5 weeks. She was a fading kitten, but she doind AMAZING now. Shes being treated for cochcidya(sp?) an Internal parasite. She keeps having horrible poo and her bottom is sooooo red and irritated and trying to bleed a little. Im sure its from going so much. Is there anything I can out on it? Or do for ber to help it not hurt? Its so swollen and red and puffy. Thank you

P.s- shes doing a bit of formula from a dropper but happily eat wet food mixed with milk from a shallow bowl. And gaining weight! We thought she was going to die Saturday evening... She made a totoal 180!

we had a litter of foster babies that had coccidia and the sore bums so we used tucks pads and that seemed to help. i've heard of using a tiny bit of desitin, or any diaper rash ointment or vaseline. if you can get your vet to put her on ponazuril she will get better much quicker than if she is on anything else, especially albon! you can also put benebac probiotics in her food and a tiny bit of plain pumpkin..

Yes, coccidia is treated best and quickest with ponazuril. You may want to ask the vet about it. You can put A&D ointment on her bum after cleaning it gently with a warm, damp, soft cloth. She should feel better soon. It sounds like she's made amazing progress with you! Thank you so much for fostering her! Sweet baby! [emoji]128571[/emoji]
