Just bumping this up for you since you've had no replies.  I'm not familiar with it, but then again, haven't tried feeding raw again for awhile

With turkey or chicken necks second in the ingredient list, I think I wonder most about bone, phosphorus, and the possibility for constipation.

As for the psyllium, I suspect it's probably to lessen the possibility of constipation... which might answer @crica's question as well as my concern about bone and constipation. Dr. Jean Hofve doesn't seem to be a fan of the stuff.

Constipation probably won't be an issue. The nugget shaped raw is only for Leroy's two daily snacks and it's not a lot, maybe 15 nuggets. I think he's getting bored with the NV Raw Bites (I only feed the chicken or rabbit ones) so the turkey Northwest Naturals may be a nice change for him.

The food looks very decent, I'd love to hear how he likes it if you try it!

Well, Leroy's basically a walking vaccuum cleaner / trash can so he gobbled up the Northwest Naturals raw

That's good to hear! You got dehydrated, right, not frozen?

No, it's the frozen one. The store didn't have the freeze dried in stock. As long as it can fit in his mouth and be eaten, Leroy doesn't care if his food is frozen or freeze dried.

Thanks again for recommending this food, LTS3: I ordered a small bag of freeze-dried turkey at a local store and gave each cat a piece (they're about the same size as Stella & Chewy's) as a treat. They both hoovered it right up so we'll start putting a little in their food (rehydrated) tomorrow.

In case anyone's interested, the company told me the dry matter phosphorus is 1.7 for freeze-dried turkey and 1.2 for freeze-dried chicken. The ingredients look very good so fingers crossed!

It's too bad the NN turkey is higher in phosphorus than the chicken.

I ordered a bag of Fresh is Best freeze-dried turkey. Both cats really liked it, the bag comes vacuum packed, they are little bite size nuggets, easy to hydrate and pretty low in phosphorus. The DMB carb is also on the lower end I think it's about 4%.

I wish it were the opposite on the chicken and turkey, too! That's one of the cats' higher phosphorus levels, though, and it's just a small part of their food so I'm not concerned about it.

I hope your cats continue liking Fresh Is Best!

I tried a small bag with Booberry. He was okay with it but not enthusiastic (freeze dried)

I just bought a bag of the turkey & a bag of the chicken yesterday, freeze dried, so hopefully the kitties will like it. They didn't have the frozen which is on my list to try

I'm reviving this old thread because I just saw something exciting on the Cat Food landing page of the Northwest Naturals site: "COMING SOON – 3 NEW CAT FOOD RECIPES!!!!!!!!!!!" Sounds like they're excited about it too. :lol2:

This is exciting because right now what they have for cats is pretty limited, and my two aren't excited about their choices

I wish NN had an egg free option but their products are likely too high in bone for us to use anyway. :(
