Ahh she had gone under. My bed. Looked like she was pushing? Is that contractions?
Yes, almost surely.

Its quite common they do deliever in some provisorical place. In the nature they dont want to soil the nest too early.

You will move the kittens later on, dont worry.   The only BUT is, if there is any trouble, you will prob have difficult to help out there under the bed.

It does sound like first stage of labor to me. She also sounds like a very sweet kitty! Do you have a special nest set up for her in your room?

Keep us posted on her progress!

You should cut the cord for her. You can use clean finger nails. Leave about an inch for the baby.

It can be a break for the next baby or it can come soon.

Is it nursing? In a nest with mom?

Its not necessary to cut the cord immediately - usually its better and possible to wait a little and see.  Also, some blood may be still flowing.  But if nothing happens and time goes bye, say 15+ minutes,  its possible and wise to cut off the cord, with a blunt clean scissors or even your clean nails as said earlier.   Mommas teeth arent sterile, so we are clean, but dont need to overdo with total sterility.

Re common complications:  IF a kitten seems to be stillborne, its sometimes possible to revive it by warming up, and vigorously rubbing and massaging.  Also, letting possible fluids out from the mouth.

The OP said it had been a half hour.

No, don't worry. She'll have the rest when her body is ready. As long as she is not in distress it's okay. Nor should she push for longer than an hour unsuccessfully. But cats can take breaks for hours or even days.

Is the cord cut now? Is placenta out?

Hello!! She's had kitten number two. Took the pain out in my hand as she was biting the first kitten hurting it. First kitten is free. Can't see if the 2nd is free. Ni sign of placenta so guessing she's eaten it?

The moms break the sac around the kitten, then lick them to stimulate breathing and to clean them. They do eat the placentas, sometimes so quickly you don't see it. Often they will nudge the kitten to nurse.

Go ahead and cut the cord like you did before. She will deliver the placenta eventually.

Are the kittens nursing?
