I'm an issue with my cat. I live with my family. And my cat loves to go into his room, because of the window, she gets to see birds, etc. She constantly gets locked in there, but i usually notice and go get her.

Yesterday my sister came by and we were chatting, and she got stuck in there for like 3-4 hours. I thought she had been in my window resting the entire time. She ended up peeing the floor.
what frustrates me is that when i was spending time with my sister, i kept thinking to check on her, but i didnt.

i feel so guilty. She raced from the room to her litter box to pee again and poop. shes eating normally and drinking water, but shes attached to me ever since, and wont go near the room.

the last time she peed inappropriately was 2-3? years ago when she peed in my moms floor (i tried putting pam on her litter box and she hated the smell and went on my moms bedroom.)

it makes me feel so bad she went through something like that.

since im living with family i cant demand we have litter boxes in all the rooms. my brother doesnt like my cat, but tolerates her in the room when he is there. but he closes the door once he goes out.

i told him its better to leave the door open than to have her pee his floor. he says he will just text me when he goes out.

its his room, and i know its his right to decide who should go inside. but i dont get why my cats continues going in there, when we constantly have to fetch her form the room.

does this happen with you guys? do your cats get stuck in random rooms?

Location
The kitty playground
We occasionally shut a cat in somewhere by accident (especially Asha, as she likes exploring under beds etc ), but thankfully have avoided accidents....so far, anyway :cross:

Don't feel bad about the other day. Life happens, and I bet you're a whole lot more upset about it than your cat is

I understand the issues involved with living with family all too well, and I do feel for you. It seems like a cat door into your brother's room would be the perfect solution here - that way, your girl can come and go as she likes but your brother gets to retain his privacy. Definitely worth a discussion, anyway ;)

I thought about the cat door, but his room has double doors with small window panes. it used to be an office. he has to use curtains because of the windows. to put a cat door we would have to completely change both doors.

so far she doesnt seem interested in going back to his room. but knowing my cat, she'll forget all about it and go back to his room eventually. at least i hope so, i feel so bad seeing her look towards his room, but not being brave enough to go just yet.

thanks for the advice!

Sinbad gets stuck in rooms all the time. Sometimes he even manage to lock himself in. He likes to crawl behind an open door, and then push it closed, which naturally results in him being unable to get out.

Luckily for us though he's a very talkative cat, so I just go looking for him whenever there's a long period of quiet.

unfortunately i cant hear her through this door. you can see her mouth meowing, and her trying to scratch at the glass. but you cant hear her. lol

thankfully my brother has agreed to leave his door open.

i was terrified she would get into the habit of peeing in there. she walked in and sniffed where she had the accident. i used an enzyme cleaner, hopefully all traces are gone.

@terestrife   I can't hear Sinbad when he locks himself into places either. That's why when it's quiet I go looking for him. He follows me around the house, napping in whatever room I'm in, and when he's awake he pretty much talks constantly. So if I can't hear him and he's not napping nearby - he is more than likely trapped somewhere.

Great to hear your brother has agreed to leaving his door open.
