This cat took me 2 years to pet. Guessing 8 year old intact male hanging with two spayed femalrs. He is trap smart. His jaws swell up like crazy to the point of busting at times so have been giving revolution. B4 i get the hate msgs i make less than $400 a week and feed the ferals and my 2 wet food and dry and give 3 of 5 revolution every month with yearly vet visits for my two at home that i rescued from there. I know ideally take him to the vet is the answer but really am financially not in a place to do so. Him being ultra feral doesnt help either, took 2 years to pey him while literally trying daily. More loving now than my in home cats but not towards others.
If u have seen this symptom please let me know the story with it. This boy deserves better, named aries... Fights any and everything... Lol

The excrement smells like pooh but cane out like pee, seemed to have reddish tinge, once again. I know, take him to the vet, well i live in nashville and will point him out to ya. Sorry so sarcastic but feeling helpless at the moment and mad at the vet system that lets animals that can be saved die due to paper money

I don't think his jaw swelling up has anything to do with flea allergies. . .usually that means he has an infection from getting bitten/scratched by another tomcat. Flea allergies usually manifest as fur loss or scabbing. Will your vet give antibiotics for a feral, without seeing the cat? Some will, some won't. If the infection drains itself, antibiotics aren't necessary, but if it stays abscessed it can get very serious and antibiotics will be needed.

As for the diarrhea, has he ever been de-wormed? If not, try to get some into him. Some brands taste OK and can be mixed with food. I've succesfully used Worm-X for ferals (disclaimer: it's labeled for dogs only. But it has the same dosage as Drontal from the vet, and is liver flavored so cats will eat it crushed in food. I've never had any trouble when using it. But just be aware that this is off-label use). That many years of parasites can take a toll on a cat.

Oops, forgot you gave him Revolution! That could explain the diarrhea---the worms dying can cause a bit of tummy upset. Revolution does kill some worms but not tapeworms, so I still think using Worm-X would be a good idea, but wait a few weeks after giving the Revolution so he doesn't have to process too many meds at once.

If he continues having diarrhea and other trouble, a vet visit is really the only option :/. Try calling all the animal rescue groups in the area to see if any of them have a vet care program.

The jaw swelling is probably an abscess, common this time of year when cats are actively breeding and fighting over females.  I have one who comes back to my house between adventures, usually beaten up, once with a huge draining abscess on one side of his jaw.  I put antibiotics into some wet food and he devours it, and then he hangs around for a few days and gets better, and then he's off again.  I get FishMox at my local feed store, which is just amoxicillin powder in 250 mg. capsules.  Starting dose for a cat up to 10 lb. is 125 mg. (about half a capsule) and then dosage is 67.5 mg. (1/4 capsule) every 12 hours.  http://www.fishmoxfishflex.com/index.php/fish-mox-amoxicillin.html  It's also available online, cheaper than what I pay locally.  For those of us who feed ferals we couldnt get to the vet anyhow, it's a good all around broad spectrum antibiotic.  They will usually heal from fight wounds on their own but it takes longer and they get sicker.  Ideally you should treat them no less than 7 days and preferably 10-14 days to make sure the bacteria are long gone and that you dont encourage antibiotic resistance by undertreating.

If you are interested in getting your feral boy neutered, Nashville has a program to help people with Trap-Neuter-Release of ferals.  It may be free or very low cost, so you might want to check into it.

As for the diarrhea, it could be many things.  Worming is a good place to start.  I use Nemex2, which again I get at my local feed store but you can get online too (just Google it).  It is listed as a canine dewormer but is the same medicine as strongid, that your vet uses.  I like this particular brand because it seems to taste really good.  I mix it with the ferals wet food and they lick the bowl clean.  It is safe and has no bad artificial sweeteners or anything.  The cat dose is usually twice the dog dose, 1 ml. per 1 lb.  I have a combo pill that also gets tapeworms but only works on the hungriest of ferals because it must taste bad.  For my own cats, I crush it and put it in a gelatin capsule and pill them with it.

I did have a couple of cats with that terribly stinky liquid diarrhea and after worming them, I started putting the probiotic Saccharmyces boulardii (without MOS because the kind with MOS is bitter) in their food.  It took 3 months but it seems to have solved the problem.  Maybe it would have solved itself but you never know.  They had it for 6 mnths or so before I tried that.  It has been recommended by a lot of folks on this site.  Again, its available online.  None of these things are expensive.  I live on even less money than you do, having only Social Security Retirement income, and am caring for a herd of 15 cats!

Glad to read that Aries is doing better! And kudos for all that you are doing for your ferals - you are a great cat guardian and I do so wish that there were more people like you in this world!
