My best friend acquired a cat from her aunt about two years ago. This aunt, who we will call Abby, claimed she found the cat, Hobo, on the streets and took him in. It wasn't long until Abby didn't find Hobo cute anymore, because he wasn't a kitten and one day, asked my best friend to watch Hobo for a few days. Mind, my best friend already has three cats of her own to look after. These few days turned into years, which was good for me as Hobo and I quickly became best friends. I had to come over regularly because Hobo wouldn't stop crying at the front door, awaiting my return.  I unfortunately wasn't able to adopt Hobo, but I promised my best friend I would take Hobo as soon as I could move into a place that allowed cats. She ended up giving away Hobo behind my back, which I still hold against her. Hobo had been the only cat I had loved and for many weeks, I cried. At this point, I do still tear up but I know Hobo is happy where he is, living on a farm with several other cats. The burning question has always been, what breed is Hobo? Even if I haven't seen Hobo in months, I still want to know what breed he is because I want to adopt a cat with close markings of Hobo in his honor. When asked, I always said he was a Calico but I know how rare that is for a male Calico but when I did look up Calico cats, Hobo did resemble the breed; except he doesn't have the different color patches. Here is the handsome boy:

I miss my little boy so much <3 I had taught him how to play fetch; I remember getting annoyed when he would chase after the ball, sit down, and make me come over to pick it up after a few times of bringing it back to me; oh how I miss that now.

That pattern of bi-color is called for the Van pattern.  Its after the Turkish Van cats whom made it renown.  Now, Turkish Van are rare, but the pattern isnt very rare.  Its even a quite strong pattern.

Another very similiar pattern for you to perhaps look upon, is the Harlequin pattern.   These cats has also spots on the body.

But breedwise, I think Hobo is / was a domestic.  DSH.

The great majority of cats are domestics, just a few percent belong to some breed.

All right, thank you! I was beginning to think that after skimming through a few other threads.
