So, Pea-Pea was on my mom's bed yesterday, so I was playing with her while she was rolling around, and play-grabbing at her back legs. Then I noticed the one leg, near the hock, had a spot that looked like new hair was growing there again. It's maybe 1 inches long and 0.5 inches wide, if my visual measurements can be trusted.

I know when I first got Pea-Pea, she had a small spot on one of her hocks, can't remember which one now. The vet I took her too for her one free vet visit (came with adopting her from the shelter) thought it MIGHT be ringworm, so treated it as such. The hair seemed to be growing back within a week so didn't think anything of it. This area is a bit bigger than that area was, but it does look like hair is growing back (either that or her skin color matches her hair and feels fuzzy!). I'd take a picture of it, but all you see is black.

My question is - if it IS/WAS ringworm, does it heal on its own? And does the hair not grow back as thick as it was? I always thought it didn't supposedly. I've had it myself and not treated it though, and it's gone away. So maybe that's the same with cats? It looks like whatever it is is healing at this point, so not gonna take her in just now. Will keep an eye on it obviously.

I've never heard of ringworm healing  by itself.  when you had it, did your put Lamosil on it or do ANYTHING to it?

Anyway, I thought if left ntreated in cats it only got worse.  So...good thing it appears to be getting better.  If it's on her hock, it could be she rubs the fur off a little while sitting on the floor.  Darko has those on both his back legs.  Two little bald spots...all the time.

I've had times where I did put lamisil, and times where I didn't. For me the only thing that it really seemed to help with was making it itch less, but going away, yep, it's gone away on its own. Then again, I'm a bit of a medical enigma so maybe it's just me. I'm unfortunately prone to it more thanks to my meds from what I was told.

Anyway, I know exactly what you mean about the little bald spots. Oscar had those little bald spots. Hers doesn't appear to be bald anymore, more like hair is growing back. The vet she saw that one time was not 100% sure it was ringworm, but the free visit didn't include extra testing, so it was just treated as such. However, the piece that looks like it has hair growing back is bigger than it was (I think) in December.

It doesn't seem to bother her, whatever it is. More something I noticed. Whatever she had back in December never bothered her either, so wondering if it's something altogether different than ringworm?

She's due to go back to the vet in November for her annual. I'll have to keep an eye on it just to make sure whatever it is doesn't get worse. Or continues to get better would be more appropriate.
