I know you can't diagnos my cat, but looking for some others that have seen this on their cat. It started with him losing hair 2 days ago and I come home to this. He is a indoor/outdoor cat. I don't have a lot of money and the vet wants 120$ starting off. This is my kids cat and I am afraid to let my kids near it. Please help if you can.

Oh my goodness.  That looks incredibly painful.  Please see if the vet will set up a payment plan.  I think the cat needs immediate treatment - so much so that if you can't afford help, you might consider surrendering him to a shelter or the vet.

You could also look into Care Credit.

Welcome to TCS.

I can't agree with @talkingpeanut  enough. This cat needs treatment and quickly. Most vets will work with you on a payment plan if you ask them. Care Credit is another option as mentioned above. This poor sweetie is probably in pain. Cats are exceptionally skilled at hiding the fact that they are in pain. If you call around, you might find a vet who is more reasonably priced.

That looks really bad... almost like an infected bite from another cat or animal---or even some kind of insect.

What ever it is...it seems to be infected..

I would not play around with it. I would try to somehow see a Vet..and to do partial payments...or just put it on a credit card and pay off a little each month...I know they are expensive..

Care Credit is good.. There is also a sticky on the health forum, that can give you an idea of how to find some help to care for your cat.

Hi jibboo and welcome to the forum !

First off, you must keep this cat indoors starting now......because, cats that feel unwell or/and who are in pain....will go away and hide out of sight - because, instinctively, they feel they're in danger from predators, less able to protect and defend themselves. They are hard-wired to do this. Such cats are often found later...dead.

So, choose an indoor space where he can be isolated with his food, water and litter....everyone at home needs to understand that he must not leave that space.

Second, there are inexpensive veterinary services offered by some animal organizations....as an example, some SPCAs have second-to-none hospital facilities where care is provided on a low/no cost basis. IF you would post your general location (nearest large city) 'we' could have a look around for you.

Hope that helps !
