My cat is a Siamese mix and a big sweetheart I found about a year ago. Ever since I have had her she will go to random places and squat like she is peeing and only pee one drop. Sometime she does this in the litter box sometimes as well but also pees normally in the litter box. No noise is made by her and no straining actually just the opposite, she just shuts her eyes and waits and pees one drop. She's gone to the vet now 3 times with no infection, no crystals and nothing physically that can be found. Does anyone have any thoughts on maybe something that was missed??? Or if behavioral what's going on?

When there is no obvious cause, it's called "idiopathic cystitis" and it is greatly improved by giving cats a diet of all WET food and no dry food at all.  If you are not feeding her a diet that is all canned food, you should try that first. It doesn't have to be expensive.  Any LOAF variety is usually good. like Fancy Feast or Friskies, or Tractor Supply's 4Health varieties.  Check out www.catinfo.org for more information on the connection between cystitis and dry food diets. The other thing that will help is making sure there is little stress in the house, such as from noisy kids, puppies, etc.

This is good info. I will watch if it's related to stress she eats mostly wet food and the dry she eats is for cats with prior urinary blockages. We recently took in a new kitty so it may be stress. Thanks!!

Recently taking in a new kitty could definitely be stress, and/or she could be marking "her" territory with little drops of urine around the house.  In my experience, females mark just as much as males when they feel the need to assert their ownership of an area.

I have seen her doing it repeatedly in the past and just happened to notice again. I assumed she was always doing it and I just happened to catch her again, but it may be coming and going with the stress level. One drop is often hard to spot.

The dry food for prior urinary blockages may have additives in it to acidify the urine, but the wet food is still very much better as it also dilutes it. Dry food is about 8-10% moisture whereas wet food is 68-78%, and more dilute urine keeps crystals and irritation away.  Also, the food should be low carb and most dry foods are NOT low carb.  Wet foods are as long as they don't have a bunch of corn and wheat and soy in them.  Mostly if you stay with PATE you are OK, its the ones with gravy and bits etc. that are higher carb.
