Playing Or Fighting? (With Video!)

My 6 and a half month old tom enjoys "playing" I hope with my 2 and a half month old female kitten.  They do like to play rough now and then and I cant tell if its agresssion or just playing so I took a video of what they typically do.  No hissing though, ever.

I am not a behavior expert by any stretch but I think it is playing.  The older  kitten had the opportunity to inflict a bite and didn't. 

I too am not a feline behaviorist but sure have watched a lot of cats and kittens in my life time.  One thing I have noticed for sure is when cats play and one of them is getting mad and/or frustrated with the other, little and big yelps are heard and one of them is usually trying to run away.  That said here's a story. I have a cat named Nora she was born feral and the cat that raised her name is Calie (long long story). She seemed to be feral at first because she came to our place with a known to be studly we named Samarius.  Calie and Samarius were extremely smitten.  Calie got pregnant before I got to launch my fixing crusade.  More long story but the point is Calie came inside and had her kittens.  Nora loved to play with the kits and I was so afraid the she'd hurt them she was so aggressive...looking.  Sometimes she'd sleep me and one morning, now mind you she was just passing tweener age, I woke up saw her mauling my arm. That's what got me awake but it was because something was tickling me.  Her claws weren't sinking into my flesh and those teeth barely holding on.  She was attacking my arm like she did the kits.  It was an attack with much love and care.  I never worried about the kits again.  Nora was awesome with them.  The irony of my story is Nora is the sole outside cat now and she chases all other cats out of the yard.  She's Queen!  Even the ones she knows or knew as a kitten. Go figure.  The end.

looks like they are playing happily to me. if they were really fighting, there would be hissing, screeching, growling and running..
