My cat is around 5 and a half years old and usually super healthy... this morning, he started meowing like crazy and acting super weird. He keeps sitting in really weird spots and staring into the distance... he also won't let me pick him up and he\s usually super duper affectionate, especially when I wake up. I will take him to the vet in the next few hours, but has anyone experienced this before? I'm honestly freaking out at this point because he my whole world! :(

Have you seen him urinate? If not, he could have a blocked urethra and this is considered an emergency. It is also very painful. Please do not wait.

It could also be partially blocked if he's only producing a small amount.

Now I saw clear fluid come out of his genitals... I saw him urinate earlier on and he seemed okay though... but obviously he isn't okay :(

It does sound like he's in a lot of pain.  I would take him to the vet as soon as possible.  Good luck!

I went to see him this afternoon, despite being super grumpy, he's doing alright... He has a caterer in him now and has that whole Elizabethan shaped dome around his neck... the vet says he'll stay in until Sunday or Monday :( Don't know how I'll survive that long not seeing him! :( But I'm just glad he's okay... if he still has blood in his urine tomorrow, they might need to insert another caterer in him... so I'm praying everything is okay... I'm just glad I got him there when I did... vet said his bladder was close to bursting!

I'm glad you figured this out.  I know for dogs this isn't too out of the ordinary, but it's not really normal for cats.

Oh my! I'm so glad you and your dad went with your gut and brought your cat to the vet immediately!

This is why blockages are an emergency. Bladders can and will burst if not addressed quickly. It's awful.

Sending lots of healing vibes...

I just want to say a big thank you to you all! I honestly don't even have the words to explain how much you all have helped me!
My little boy is back home (we got him back late yesterday). Doctor is happy with him. He got his Elizabethan collar removed and despite being a little down still, he's almost 100%. I must admit, blocked bladders are scary! Doctor thinks it's due to it being winter where I am as well as the fact that he's a tad overweight and people next door moved a few days back (stress). It's definitely not something I want to experience again. Just so glad my baby is okay...

I'm glad your kitty is on the mend! Hopefully this won't happen again, and perhaps you can try to prevent it in the future. Diet, water, and stress are all factors that affect bladder and urinary issues in cats. Males are especially prone to urethral plugs.

Wishing you the best of luck with your boy!

I'm so glad to hear he's back home again. He's an absolutely lovely boy, even with his collar on.

Vibes for a speedy recovery.
