Kitten isn't eating, and sleeps a lot

Hi all,

I just wanted to report that my kitten Mabel (10 months old) hasn't eaten for nearly two days now. She will take the occasional nibble, but more or less isn't interested in her food. She is allowed to go outside (and occasionally even gets onto the roof) but doesn't go onto the streets at all, she's just too curious for us to take that risk. It started when I tried to change her to another type of food for adult cats by mixing a bit into her old food, and she seemed to eat it at first, but when I arrived to make her food again, hardly any of it was gone. I have since changed her back to her old food but she's just not interested. Another worrying thing is that she hasn't gotten out of her bed all day. She doesn't sleep much, just curls up there, sometimes looking at us, sometimes closing her eyes, sometimes her eyes are half closed. Could one of you possibly help? Thanks

Hello, and I'm sorry that you're going through this. It does sound like Mabel needs to see a vet. Is that possible?

Yes, a vet is possible. I would like to know the severity of the problem beforehand, as our vet is quite busy and it's quite sad to see our kitten unwell. Thanks for your comment.

Not eating is quite serious for a cat. It can turn fatal within a day or two if fatty liver disease sets in. I would get to the vet quickly.
