So my original cat, Luna, is 1 year old. I rescued her when she was 2 weeks old so she doesn't really know anyone besides the family & dog. when guests come over she hides, hisses, growls, scratches, out of fear. she does her own thing, isn't affectionate, which upsets me because I saved her from the brink of death and was basically her mother. (any help with this is appreciated)

A week and a half ago I adopted a 5 year old cat, Stella. She's supe affectionate and loving and doesn't bite or hiss or scratch. I Kept her in my room for a few days to get used to the new place, when I would let her out she would hide in the basement in impossible places so we had to cover that and keep her in the room, like I read online about introducing cats. let her have free roam recently.

At first it was Luna growling and hissing and showing aggression (out of fear) towards Stella. Lots of stare downs between the two. Then Stella started to hit/swat/scratch Luna, causing her to run in fear and safety and then Stella would chase Luna and it would end in Luna running and hiding for her life. lots of cat screaming would be heard and Luna would be cornered terrified out of her mind. It happens at least twice a day every day now.

This isn't like Stella to be aggressive, this isn't the type of cat she is. she was fine with the other cats at the shelter (shared a room with a few others when at petsmart for adoption week). she came from a house with 15 cats and got put up when the owner died.

Any help on what I can do? I can only put Stella in the carrier, not Luna, it's physically impossible. I've gotten them to eat out of the same dish infront of me but after were the same. I tried playing with the two when they were like three feet away, Luna finally loosened up to play but Stella stared. when Luna chased the laser closer to Stella, stella lashed out.

Please help! Luna's so scared and she used to sleep with me at night. I just want them to get along and get things normal. and I can't give back Stella, especially since a reason I adopted her was as a therapy cat.

I think you need to keep them separated for a while. You may have introduced them to each other too quickly. I would start the introduction process over again. It can take weeks or months to do a proper introduction.  There is a lot of information on this site that will help you.

Good luck
