Can someone please recommend a cheap, safe L-Lysine powder for cats with feline herpes?

I would like one without all the additives if possible. I use the Lysine paste, but, it gets expensive using it for 3 cats (along with everything else they need.)

Also, is there anything else that helps reduce herpes flare-ups?
My cats tend to stress each other out which results in an outbreak for them all. I don't know if anything could help keep them more calm. Thanks.

Twinlab L-Lysine capsules, 500 mg.  Available in the Natural Health Foods section of Kroger supermarkets or online (just Google it).  I like it because it is so easy to open the capsules and divide up the doses.  Its soluble in water and has no unplesant taste, just a little salty.

If you are fighting an outbreak or aftermath like runny eyes, you can add LACTOFERRIN, also available online.  The only "side effects" of lactoferrin are good ones--enhancing the immune system, reducing inflammation, etc.  I get the Jarrow lactoferrin on Amazon.

We have had ongoing discussion threads on here about using lysine and lactoferrin for herpes as well as to improve immunities in FIV cats.

Here is one of them:

Thank you so much. Just to confirm, the Twinlab lysine is for humans but perfectly safe for cats? Thanks again.

Yes, lysine is lysine, so you just have to watch out for additives.  This one is manufactured in the USA and has no added flavorings, artificial sweeteners, colorings or preservatives.  On top of that, I have used this brand for years, for my cats and for myself, so I can personally vouch for it.  I like the convenience of dosing by having it in 500 mg. capsules containing powdered lysine, so 250 mg. is half a capsule, 125 mg. is 1/4 capsule, and my own daily dose is 2 capsules unless I feel a fever blister coming on, in which case I up it to 3 or 4 capsules until the thing goes away.  For the cats, I mix it in the food, for me, I just swallow the capsules with a chug of water.
