I am having a bit of an issue with my two cats these days. I feed them wet twice a day, early in the morning before I work out and late afternoon when I get home from work. That used to equate to 6 am and 5 pm.

Life changed for us a bit, and I moved twice in a span of six weeks. The first move was from a three bedroom house to the spare room of a friend, and the second was to our new three bedroom house. No one was happy during the first move, and I would be woken up early, 4 am, to feed them. I was bad and gave in. I just wanted to sleep, and we were all stuffed together.

We have been in our house now for two months, and I am still woken up at 3 or 4 am. They are either all over me in the bed or wailing through the door if I kick them out. Again I give in, feed them, and go back to bed, but my sleep is suffering.

How do I get them to sleep in again??

I always suggest feeding THREE times a day, especially if you want to sleep through the night.  Feed breakfast when you get up, feed dinner after work, and then feed bedtime meal just before you go to sleep.  The normal cat cycle is hunt (play), catch, kill, eat, sleep.  So if you want them tl sleep, feeding them at bedtime is a good thing to do.  On top of that, studies have shown that cats do better with several small meals daily than one or two larger meals.  They should adjust to the new schedule if you stick to it.

I agree with @Red Top Rescue; try feeding them a third meal just before you go to bed.  We feed four meals a day in our household, and time the last meal to be as late as possible, so that the kitties don't try to wake us up quite as early.

Agreed - add in another meal or two to keep your cats' tummies happy. Two meals a day roughly 12 hours apart with nothing to eat in between is not enough. You can keep breakfast at the same time. Add in at least a lunch of canned food. You can use a programmable timed feeder such as this one to provide a meal while you are away. Canned food will not spoil if left out all day in a feeder. Some people measure out a small amount of regular dry food or freeze dried raw and leave that out for snacking on, usually no more than 1/2 cup. Then feed dinner as usual. You may want to also feed a small canned food snack before bedtime.
