Not cat related, but a question none the less.

I was wondering, I have an exteremly dry scalp that comes with winter and it is to the point of bad dandruf, with coloring it recently i know I didn't help it, but anyway,does anyone have a cure for dry scalp? it only happens in the winter, so it's not normal dandruf, I've tried everyone of the shampoos for dandruf, but they just dry my scalp out more. Please help!

I have the same problem and I found this recipe on the web several months ago. I have been using it with great results.

peppermint and tea tree shampoo

2 drops peppermint essential oil
2 drops tea tree esential oil
4 tablespoons shampoo base.(I use head and shoulders mild formula)

Mix oils thoroughly with the base
shampoo as usual but leave lather in hair at least 5 minutes before rinsing.


Also keep this shampoo well away from the pets.

One question though, how often to use it? I wash my hair everyday because I work in a restaurant and it gets gross with all the grease, hairspray and stuff. so can I use it everyday or should I use it less?

I use it twice a day and rinse out the shower really well afterward so the cats don't get into it accidently- it smells wonderful too!

One more dumb quesiton, it won't hurt to use it on colored hair? I only color my hair to make it look (ahem) pretty , because I have (some) NO gray in my hair what so ever! LOL!
