Hi @Roxy984

No, unfortunately it won't shut him up. He might be quite for a few minutes, but the urge to find a mate will soon start him up again. The best thing to do is get him neutered ASAP. It can take up to a month for their hormones to settle down after they've been neutered, so if he's driving you crazy you really need to get him fixed.

Is he an indoor only cat? Does he spray as well as yowl?

Thanks for the reply Norachan. He is not spraying thankfully! just driving me crazy with the yowling, i think it's because there is a female stray that he keeps watching from the window.

I will speak to my vet.

thanks

He WILL start spraying if he is not neutered, that is how a tom marks his territory. Most of those annoying behaviors will go away if he is taken in,but will only increase and get worse if not. Not to mention the fights that result in abscesses and terrible wounds too. You would be doing him a big favor and you too. Thank you for giving him a home, he will bring you much joy in the future, all the luck!

Unlike a female, he will not go into and out of heat. It is constant, and never gets better. It's really in his, and your, best interest to fix him. Is there a reason you're hesitating? Perhaps we could help.
