I fed her with syringe she got 2/3 doxy of her daily mixed water with medicine she was  parched  I wrapped her in towel she sneezed out three times and ate some more gravy with little bits of meat. She is now asleep again after urinating again and seems more comfortable. Will see what tomorrow brings.  Thank you

meat babyfood ham chicken turkey or beef flavored can help get her some calories while you wait until tuesday. will she lick it off your finger? cats need about 150 calories a day at min and babyfood jar is around 70 so if you could get at least 2 jars of meat babyfood-this would help keep her going. my cats love the ham the most. turkey second then chick but some cats have other preferences.

what state are you in? Im in new england and have know a few cats who did have this anemia and they did recover but its a long process. the most important thing now-water and food.

if she isnt pooping you can add a few drops of veggie oil or olive oil into her wet food. this helps add a fat source into the colon to help it move itself along. coconut oil works as well. or butter. i use butter for my cats to help with pooping.

hoping you have a good night and tuesday gets here soon for you.

Thanks for your concern and help and site info.  I will look at the sites when I finish this post. I asked what could be done if she were to worsen all that was said if I take her to an emergency vet possibly to consider that she would only get a month out of a transfusion and they offered no assistance and said they offered no transfusion service if I needed it for her but said I should bring her back Tuesday for fluids..... when I went to visit they said she could come home Sat. I asked everything I could think of from this site and was told they didn't know what was wrong with her.

I do believe her esophagus is inflamed because of her hanging her mouth open at times and gagging and when I was giving her syringe with water mix and doxy she was having trouble with it so I took it out several times as I said in last post and went at it slowly. Thanks for all the help she is resting now on my recliner. Hopefully tomorrow will be good and I can get her in to Feline Vets Tuesday.  Someone above is looking out for her as well as you thankfully and Redtop. I appreciate you both!

Update

Little Bit is still sneezing and hacking in night she ate some baby food this a.m I made it soupy so she would get a water consistency but she still is gagging and. still not drinking I will try to syringe her that is difficult  with that going on. Her neck is shaved at her throat and side of  neck she is  a small cat to begin with. I noticed gagging when she came home so I am unsure if she drank while there or what happened and she received   subcutaneous fluids and doxy hopefully fluid style as I was told that can burn the esophagus. I knew I could never get those large cut up chunks down her so it was capsule or syringe and since she needed water I  decided mix it in syringe. The only capsule I found was size 0 and it looks too large. All compounding pharmacies here closed today.

Hopefully this day will pass without issues and I can get her in there tomorrow for a thorough checkup and as they specialize in felines only perhaps they can give me more answers and hopefully treatment options. Thanks for all input so kind.

Glad she is eating the baby food.  Just keep syringing the water as it should be soothing to her throat, and since you said she pooped two dime sized, blood tinged balls, sounds like she is also constipated, another sign of dehydration.  (this could also be the reason for the blood on her stools...constipation)

Were you able to locate any of the B vitamins or Iron?  If not, that's ok...tomorrow is just a day away now.

As far as pilling goes, I'm SURE you're going to become an expert at that, but to help you along, here is a link to a video, followed by others to get you started:  .   If that link doesn't work, I simply googled "how to pill a cat" and opened up the first youtube video that popped up.

Keep us posted on what the Feline Vet has to say.  Hang in there,  you're doing great so far!

Little Bit is now in  kittycat heaven..........my feline precious gal is gone at 10 years old.  I took her to the specialists in Felines (Vets to Cats) today and even though she tested negative for FELV I learned it can be in the acute phase a false negative. All signs pointed to FELV new vet opinion said with a drastic decline in White Blood Cells failure to make new red blood cells and non regenerative issue she lost to 4.9 over last few days. Here at home since Saturday afternoon after hospital stay of 8 days she was eating baby food and STILL not drinking except with syringe and She really couldn't accept it very well.

Other vet who recommended she come home Sat with me from other clinie when her PAV level was down to 13. I asked vet if from other vets notes if doxy was being put in her IV he said no the notes indicated otherwise from other vet.  I showed him the cut down pills that were given me for the weekend to take  ~~ they were a dogs dosage most likely and yes that it could inflame the esophagus if not in IV form AS someone here also said that could be harmful to her esophagus which I believe to be true as her mouth would hang open at times after coming home and she wouldn't drink and she seemed better after I mixed water with doxy take here at home as someone suggested.  New vet also wondered why previous vet didn't sent home the Baytril she was on with me.   Another thing is she didn't hang her mouth open after that syringe filled with water and doxy mix I gave her(after 8 day stay at first place I took her to) and she wasn't drinking water at all after coming home. I had also noticed she shied from he water inside but the outdoor water under house seem to be going down some...........that is why  2 weeks ago which prompted me to take her to first  vet along with her weight loss becoming apparent and her nose and ears felt warm. She was eating less.

Probably went from normal weight from around 8 1/2 (she was very small to begin with could've been the runt of her litter) but she came to me feral so I'll never know. Her weight was at first clinic only 5.7 May 20th and was eating mostly broths and gravies off the cat food I gave her and maybe a few bits 1/2 dozen or so and then she would gag.

New feline Vet  today also said he would normally suspect rabies due to not wanting to drink but not in this case. Said most likely this disease was working on her before signs became evident and who knows it could've been passed to her by her mother. I did take in another feral cat that was skin and bones about 2-3 years ago and he has flourished and they did fight from time to time but she was a very passive cat  and this cat is a lap cat and loves attention and being inside. He did intimidate her but I tried to keep them separated especially in winter when she was in more and some days all day for days we live in a cold climate in winter averaging  6- 12 inches of snow this winter was worse getting almost 30 inches of snow. She still wanted out at times and I would let her go she loved to go under the house always did even before other cat. came.

I read there is another test so if your cat has symptoms of FELV (look them up there are a few) and first test shows negative there is a second test that can be run. It is important and if you have a multi cat household it is imperative that you have this checked and if new cats are added even to a cattery they should be kept away from others until tested.

Even if sent to the college hospital today she had very little to work with in her cell counts most at zero. Yet neither vet could understand her ability to walk around on counter and jump down. She never flinched with this vet today something I noticed and she laid down in front of him for him to examine her before her last blood draw. She just had nothing to work with he said I could send her but most likely weighing so little and numbers so bad she wouldn't make it so I decided no more pain and time for heaven and wellness and running and jumping and happily playing there......and I told her to meet me at the Rainbow Bridge that my dog that is there in heaven will meet her.......and as they played before they will again they used to chase each other around the recliner and up and down the halls..........I am sad.

Hug your cats closer tonight and all your pets. I will be missing her sleeping beside me on the pillow tonight as she did last night. Heart wrenching and as bad as her tests were

today and fading she purred for me I held my arms around her never leaving her she is now laying on my sofa in her nice box they gave me she is getting cold to the touch and only her tail I can move so I am saying my last goodbyes before I take her to my pet resting place.......Sad indeed........I will miss my little sweet dainty beautiful tortoiseshell cat named Little Bit............

I am glad she isn't suffering any more but heartbroken that she didn't recover.  Living outside, they get exposed to so much, so living to be 10 years old as a mostly feral cat is really an accomplishment.  At least she knew she was loved as she went off to the Rainbow Bridge.  We are really sorry for your loss.

My heart cries for your loss, thank you for letting us know how valiantly she fought and what a brave little girl she was. She is at peace now, secure that she will never be forgotten and held in your loving heart forever.Although the pain of losing them is great, it is still worth it to have their love in our lives, they gave us so much more in return. You did all you could, but sometimes even the best is not enough, I pray that your precious memories of happier times will bring you comfort. The bond you forged with that sweet little girl will be with you forever, nothing can ever take it from you as long as you are alive. Please accept my condolences, I share your pain because I have lost loved ones too and know what it feels like to have your heart break in two. Time is the great healer, and time will heal that hole in your soul, one day you will smile at your memories instead of crying a flood of tears. I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, RIP sweet Little Bit, your star will shine bright in the heavens, as you lie on the warm laps of angels!

I am so sad to read your update on Little Bit @littlebitsmom  .  10 years in your life and wrapping around your heart is a long time, and it is clear from your posts how much you have cared for this little cat who found her way in to your home.  The TCS team would like you to know that we are so very sorry for your loss.   We hope that those people around you, and your remaining cat and dog help you through this difficult time. Threads are locked after someone has suffered such a loss, as a sign of respect. We invite you to place a tribute at http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge  as an enduring testimony to Little Bit.
