Cat came to me in need of help someone said she had been picked up by a German Shephard in his mouth and had punctured her two place on her

body. She was a couple of months old. I fed her warm milk treated her small wounds and said I would keep her until they could have someone pick her up as

they worked out of townneedless to say they never came back.

She was alone most of the time except for my dogs in another part of the house for 3 months as I had a family medical emergency and worked full time and at

hospital after work many days so she wasn't socialized that well. She started going outdoors and loved it there it was late spring and she grew used to being

out there. I had her spayed and no one mentioned any issues with her she did well.

She remained skittish and didn't want to be held. I fed her morning and night mostly outdoors and she loved stayed under the house or under bushes in winter she came

in an area that she called her own and didn't socialize that often even though encouraged. In time she would lay on top of sofa or on a bed but loved to hide. She also played with balls

and loved dancing strings ribbons etc and she liked outdoor games with the dogs and running from bushes surprise attacks on them. One of my dogs passed away and that left 1 dog and cat

she came in more except in warmer weather. She still remained aloof. She didn't  like to be held but petting her was fine sporadically.

Three years ago another feral cat in neighborhood picked me and I took him in also he was totally a lap cat and needed lots of affection. Little Bit cat became more distant and I had older cat neutured

he returned but was jealous of her. He then suffered a broken leg a year ago while I was at work and was gone a week posted notices called neighbors and finally one night I found him on my deck with a shattered leg so upon return I took him for surgery and care at the vets for 10 days. When he came home he was caged for 2 more weeks. LIttle Bit cat came in but was wary of him. He became aggressive towards her and I had to separate them at feeding times. She appeared less interested in coming in to eat.She was more and more outdoors or under house except in winter she had her area indoors to herself for most part.

She is 10 now and has pretty much remained a small cat only weighing 8 to 9 lbs.

About 6 weeks ago I noticed she was losing weight shortly after I returned home for a 4 day trip neighbors fed her same as I did. She came in and ate less and less then only gravy with little water. She urinated however her poop was almost nonexistant as she wasn't eating. I called vet and tried the proper baby food and tried her food ground down I added water and purchased pet broth and she ate that but not the meat and not dry food and only a few dry cat treats after about  days I gave up tried to work on getting her crated and then took her to vet they performed blood tests most levels were in the very good range but fever was 103.4 and her respirations were rapid, Her blood levels were very low and she was hospitalized. 3 days later she has little improvement in the level of blood.

I can only come up with a few possibilities, neighbor sprayed evergreens about 6 weeks ago she loves to lay under evergreens and we have no fences in our neighborhood so that is a possibility

I was gone for 4 days so perhaps that was bothersome to her schedule even though she was fed while I was gone on pretty much the same schedule. Other cat in home has been somewhat aggressive to her as he is a lap cat and wants all attention. I have to separate them when eating. My dog keeps the peace otherwise.

v

Now comes the question after her history. She has always appeared to have a fast heartrate so I don't know if she had a heart issue at birth or possibly from dog attack when she was young. Vet put her on prednisone I have not heard of any other tests performed even though he said xrays were to be performed. Vet is an older vet old school very kind and caring. Has anyone heard of a situation and issues

with this? What should I ask for test wise and should I transfer her to a Vets to Cat facility only? What could it be? Thanks for your help and if you read through this God Bless you I was trying to be thorough.

There's no way we can diagnose her.  I would get her to the vet right away.  At the least ask for a senior blood panel and be sure they check for diabetes and thyroid problems.

If you have a cat only Vet in town, I would definitely take her there, as they are much more trained in this type of thing.  Did your "old school" Vet mention anything about her having a heart murmur?  You said her blood levels were low...does that mean she had anemia?  What did they do for her while she was in the hospital, or is she still there?

I haven't had a diagnosis as yet and they said they don't know what is causing this and told me today that her red blood cell count was worse but that she is eating and drinking. They started her on an

antibiotic after 4 days there  along with the prednisone she is on. They say they don't know what is causing her blood loss which concerns me because

I am wondering why  vet can't perform test to determine it. She lost from almost 9lbs to 5.75. She has always been small but her coat looked bad and she was just laying.

I did phone a vets to cats only office and spoke with them today they seem to have a better handle to communicate and we discussed everythig form my research,  understanding of what

could be going on to them having me bring her tests so they didn't have to put her through same ordeal again and work closely with additional tests to find underlying issue which I agree

has to be identified for proper treatment as needed. and I will take her if she does not improve in the next two days.

She had a fever of 103.4 where we arrived several days ago now and blood count at 20  went to 22 then dropped back down again today no numbers were given me I waited hours to get info

any info on her today and was disconnecteed twice before they answered after I had phoned earlier in the day with no response  it leaves me very concerned for her. It is a small office and vet is busy and kind and overworked and has cared for my pets for years however this is life threatening and I don't want her to deteriorate while she is there with mere guesswork.

She is feral but I have tried for years to rehabilitate her and gained some trust she ws primarily outdoors exception winter and in the evenings lots of times she comes in but not a cat to be held

she has always had a fast heart rate and it was mentioned that she had that upon admission compared to my other cat I owen now also a rescue and in fine health.

she also presented at the clinic with fever and the low blood count. Other lab work looks good.I asked for a copy and they said they couldn't give me a copy?

She was just getting so weak and eating less and less and drinking little in a month she changed but wanted to come indoors and stay but hid at times and at times laid on my bed at night.

My other cat can be a little intimidating toward her so I monitored that carefully thinking perhaps she was stressed  so I fed her separately she was beginning to stay around me when not hiding

as  I let my other cat out on porch which he loves or in another room or putting him in time out and it was seeming to work as she somewhat  ate a little better then it changed,  her nose and ears were very warm to hot so I took her in.

This is all I know for now I ask specialty  cat vet if they could perform a transfusion if needed and they can but I believe they said it could cause even more issues if not needed so I will again get update tomorrow and next day

and if no improvement take her over there Thanks any ideas are appreciated......My 14 year old cocker poo ever watched over her when she was inside she needed us

and I tried.....so hoping it ends well for her I have loved her and she purrs like no other cat when she lays down to rest and I try to comfort her...She is a sweet gal......and when she needed a home I gave her one one always wonders what goes on before their genetics,,, etc. Thanks again for your interest.....

Thanks for responding did you see what I wrote today I am still learning about this posting sorry I am so green but I did write  a reply to someone who had be on here for almost same symptoms as my cat but I have no Idea how to find them again.......

At any rate day 5 in vet clinic and this is what they said

Today regular vet not there her platelet level down to 18 today I weighed her and she lost another 1/2 lbs down for around 9 to 5.7 when I took her In now 5.2 she Is like bones they are saying other blood counts are good  creatnine etc and It appeared she may be trying to regenerate today and I asked where on the test It shows that and asked for  the names of the tests  but I honestly don't understand how to read the tests but the numbers on that were to the right with a red mark and before they were midway. I asked for copies of the tests but I was told they do not let them out? I was not happy with that answer. I am paying for those tests and I need to understand they were just too busy to answer my questions and help me understand things

The new young vet used some language I did not understand but It sounded like  because she had a fluid pack her test could've been compromised with the additional fluid she had received. And I am paying for mistakes??? I go to this vet as he Is nice old school type but the staff there unless he Is right on them telling them what to do at times are walking around like they know not what they do turnover Is high. Am I simply too concerned and should give It a week to 10 days what about her weight loss........

When I asked about her Intake of water and food they said simply she Is eating. I asked Is she eating the foods I bought In or Is It your food and what? Do  I need to replace her food I took stews meats and gravy mixes bits and treats and I wasn't comfortable taking that but they said give her what she will eat at this point 5 days ago.......so why Is she losing more weight If she Is eating. Perplexing to say the least........ Plus at 5.2 If they just gave her a fluid pack how much weight would that have added on she was a little wet on the neck when they gave her to me and made me wait 40 minutes to put her In a room for me to even see her??

Here are my concerns and I need help deciding what to do If I should leave her a full week with memorial day coming up I dread what her care might be. We have a new cats to vets only and I have heard they are good. Perhaps she needs food by Iv  or more nutrition after all she just lost another 20% of her body yet they said It will take a few days If she Is taking prednisone, doxyxyline and some Iv fluids Is that enough? She simply can't lose more weight.

I was trying to see If they had a chemistry panel as I know we need to know what Is causing her blood loss and treat the underlying cause and all they are saying Is It appears to be an Immune disorder.

She weighed around 9 normally then started losing weight about 4 or 5 weeks but she normally stays outdoors and more In spring summer so I thought she was looking thinner but then I realized her evening meal she wasn't eating much drinking little so I started on her on stews to keep fluids and she liked some of them then I started meat baby food and she ate little but an improvement and I was trying to feed her many times during the day and evening and she seemed to want to be Inside suddenly but hiding but she always likes Is quieter and calmer and stays under house a lot of the time she Is outdoors. My male cat seems to intimidate her and I even thought perhaps he was to blame so I kept them separated but her nose and ears were warm and I decided this is not working and took her In to vet.

Any thoughts would be helpful I am thankful my 14 year old dog other than sleeping got a clean bill of health 8 weeks ago and my male cat the same.........

I don't want her to suffer but I have heard other medications that they could possibly use from on here and I don't know If she can even take them at 5 lbs Is she Is strong enough. She Is on 7.5 prednisone but they said they may change that to 14 Is she strong enough for that.....I want to take someone In a room say listen to my questions explain It all or I am taking her out of here that Is how concerned and frustrated I am. Any help would be appreciated........I know vets are busy but my pet is important to me...........

Thanks.........for listening and I hope your pets are well or improving after all our fur babies are like children to most of us!!!

You seem to be doing fine in the posting area.

Now, as far as your existing Vet not giving you copies of her (your cat's) records, that is just ludicrous!)   You paid for them and have every right to them.  I've just never heard of anything like that.

When they tell you she is eating and drinking, I don't think they are lying to you, it's probably just that she is doing enough to survive, but not enough to keep her existing weight on.  Are they supplementing her with vitamins or such?  They would need to install a feeding tube to get much more nourishment in her, and that would require anesthesia.  That might not be a good idea in her condition...I just don't know

Is the VET going to be in the office tomorrow so you can sit down and have a heart to heart with him?  You don't sound like a "pushover" to me, so I would march in there tomorrow and demand some answers, like how good the care will be over the holiday weekend, copies of her records, and if you can't have them since you paid for them, EXACTLY why not, what each drug is for and why, what is being done to try to determine a diagnosis (realizing that sometimes diagnosis's are impossible to make...ask your niece, since she's a dr),would a blood transfusion be helpful and if not, WHY,  etc.    If you aren't satisfied with the answers, then see if you can get her moved over to the Feline Only Hospital.

I can see just how much you love this little girl.  What's her name, BTW?  I sure hope someone can get to the bottom of this, sooner than later.

Her symptoms sound like feline infectious anemia, caused by Haemobartonella felis, (now called Mycoplasma haemofelis) which is an infectious anemia caused by a mycoplasma which is a parasitic organism.  It's common in the U.S. but most prevalent in the middle of the country in places like Oklahoma.   It is transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks and fleas, and can also be transmitted by the bite of another cat that is infected with it.  Symptoms include anemia, lethargy, fever, and anorexia.  The red blood cells are being destrroyed    Treatment usually includes the administration of doxycycline or enrofloxicin to knock out the infection along with transfusions and administration of steroids to treat the anemia.  Those antibiotics are specific to mycoplasma infections and are not generally used unless dealing with a cat that has severe symptoms because they can have some side effects, so they may suspect it. It sounds like they are treating her exactly the way they should and if it responds to one of these antibiotics, that can be diagnostic in itself.

"M. haemofelis infection is suspected in cats with regenerative anemia, in which polychromasia and reticulocytosis are noted. During the acute phase of infection, M. haemofelis can be readily identified on stained blood films however M. haemofelis can disappear and reappear in the peripheral blood throughout the course of infection and can be mistaken for stain precipitate or vice versa.Commercially available PCR assays that detect the Mycoplasma 16s rRNA are more reliable means of diagnosis. Many such assays are species specific. Currently, no serological test for M. haemofelis is commercially available.

We did have a case on here recently, and I remember the thread.  I will see if I can find it.  In the meantime, ask your vets if they can do the PCR test, or if not, at least ask them if they think this might be the diagnosis.  If so, she's getting exactly the right treatment, but it can take a long time and it isn't always totally wiped out.  It can live sort of under the surface but pop up again if the cat gets stressed.

I found the thread.  At first they thought the cat had non-regenerative anemia but it turned out that it was regenerative, and despite crises along the way, the cat is still alive.   See post #11 in this thread re the diagnosis, but do read the whole thing.  The thread started in June of 2014 and the last update she posted was April 19 of this year.

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/278959/severe-non-regenerative-anemia

Obviously we can't diagnose this disease by symptoms alone, but it wouldn't hurt to call up your vet and say you read about a cat on TCS who had similar symptoms and got similar treatment, and would they consider that this might indeed be feline infectious anemia.

I went to see Little Bit vet came in room while I was visiting she got off able and went under cabinet.........He said she has so much energy for a cat in her condition and it is worse.

Explained that now her test is at 13 PAV she is eating of course I know not what or how much back room crew bought her in with food in front of her when I first arrived plopping her and the food down at the same time...Like here she is you make her eat and feed her giving a very bad thought of how she is treated when I am not there. No specifics on anything as usual. No intake of how much food or output or if they are interacting with her is she sleeping in pain yelling out anything?

He said you can take her home I was floored for her decline,  It is Memorial Day Weekend. What should I look for. She is very spastic right now and unable to hold.Said they would send doxy with me (thought it was injectible type like they are giving her with subcutaneous fluids daily) and to pick up a vitamin with an iron supplement for her at a Pet Store. Well I have checked and they don't have one in stock as I said before I was told to go to farm store for Vit B and again they didn't have anything except for cattle and poultry. Seems at though vitamins and meds are sorely lacking there. Ia ked if Vit B had been ordered (said they would and it would be in next week) no he had to tell them again ot order in front of me.

Apparently thought she may do better for me to have home I am happy to have her but don't wnat her to expire over the weekend so far she is sleeping in a dark area in the house and up and down on her chair and bed urinating 4 times since yesterday ate some broth and a few bits she just doesn't want to swallow any meat she is not drinking that I can tell I have several water bowls down. To my dismay they put doxy in left over food bag while I was checking out I assumed it would be injectable because I can't put those large pills in her they are cut down from what looks like a large tablet and the cut looks like a large shardrs she can't swallow that and I can't get them into her so ground them down and put in her stew well now she won't eat her stew and that is all I had her eating exception a few bits............So defeating.............like setting me up to fail........She doesn't want to be held and barely held just wants to lay and me talk to her. She purrs but it is a different purr than before she has energy as she jumps around at times but I am trying to keep her calm and reserve her energy. She also sneezed last night a few times and she wasn't doing that before.

I asked for all tests to show my niece who is a doctor but not a vet....They said they would give them to me when I checked out and guess what the last test showing her

decline was not in there. So all I have are Dr's notes and two test one on the day she was entered 5-20 and one on the 23- the rest are missing and the one is missing from

the last PAV test. I drive half and hour to get there and of course they are closed till Tuesday not giving me a phone number for emergency nothing. I was told before I left they didn't know what was wrong with her and that if I took her to an emergency vet that if they offered a transfusion it would only last a month if that kind of telling me it was useless.

They also said bring her back Tuesday for a subc fluid and doxy treatment and they would five her the B12 but that it wouldn't work from their thinking.Hoping she survives to take her to Feline Vet Clinic Tuesday and due to the fact I can't get doxy in her and water I am unsure of I am fearful she will further decline to point of no return.

Here are a couple of the tests results if anyone can help One full blood count while there for 8 days other 3 times was PAV tests only and last one of those I wasn't given...

MAY

20

Negative for FelV FIV HW   I will give the low counts only

RBC 4.64

HCT 19.6%

HGB 5.2 6.2 g/dl

Borderlne low whit  blood cells 3.69

also EOS lowest at 0.01 BASO normal PLT 28 K/ul

normal but high normal were Glu 137 and RDW 26.9 and RETIC at 49.8

MAY 23

EOS o.o BASO 0.0 PLT 16 LYM now in low range 0.60  WBC 2.41  HGB 5.8 HCT 19.0 RBC 4.33 RDW 27%.3 RETIC 1.4%

This is unfortunately all I have of the tests May 27th missing

Also this note says on both tests BAND NEUTROPHILS SUSPECTED?

5-28 when I went to visit and they said take her home all I know since test iwas not given to me is that her outlook from test wasn't good and that her level has fallen once again to 13

I am considering taking her Tuesday to Veternarians to Cats a new location that said they can do transfusions if needed and that I will; have to bring all her tests which means I will have to go a hour out of my way to get her last readout that they ommitted

Meds they were giving her hopefully as noted were

5mg of Prednisone 2x daily 10 some days?  they said Subcutaenous fluids 150 ml  12.5 baytril doxy 2x per notes

Wrote on some days TP=6?

Temperature from 103+ on admittance to 104.3 on 5-26 to 101.9 on 5-27 to none given at 12 noonish when visiting they said o take her home

Any ideas please helo Except for grammatical errors hopefully these numbers are correct from what I am reading............

She came home 5-28 and no temp noted  on notes that they gave me copies of. Last PAV tests saying she was at 13 is missing but on Dr notes.........Thanks and I hope someone knows what this can be........

Could a chemical cause this about 5-6 weeks ago the neighbor sprayed the trees and she was outdoors she could have gone over there but mostly likes under thehouse (nothing under there to harm her) or under shade trees here where bird feeders are.

I have thought could she have picked up a small rodent that was infected with something or a small bird. Otherwise nothing not even those ideas seem likelly.

Hope everyone's pets are well or getting well and hug them tight we never know...............

Well, from what I can find, doxy is exremely bitter, so I'm not surprised she won't eat any food with it in there.  Now, I've never had the need to use it, but this website states that it should not be given to cats in pill form, because it can cause issues with their esophogus:  http://www.diamondbackdrugs.com/doxycycline-for-pets/.  So, that leaves several other forms, but you didn't get any of those, and it being a holiday weekend, I think you're up a creek,so to speak.  If you've got it powdered up, it's possible you could dissolve it in water and use a syringe to give it to him orally, but I have no idea how much because it may not dose the same way.  Is there any way you can call an Emergency Vet in your area and just ask that question?  Possibly if you ere to call your Vet's number, they may reference an emergency phone number to call.  Otherwise, maybe try mixing what you have in the stinkiest cat food you can find, and warm up the food first, so that it's REALLY stinky.  Problem is, if Lil Bit isn't hungry then she isn't going to eat, no matter what

For Vitamin B, and iron, here is a webpage dedicated to that topic.  It covers both oral and injectables:  http://www.felinecrf.org/vitamin_b.htm  You might be able to pick up some of the oral ones at a health food store. I see that some offer a combination of Bs and iron all in one, and a liquid to boot
.  You might see if any of your local pet supply stores have it in stock.

Did you talk to your Vet about the possibility of it being Feline Infectious Anemia, as Red Top Rescue mentioned?  What did they say?  Did you mention to them about the chemicals from your neighbor?

Have you tried feeding her some baby food.  Nothing with onions or garlic or anything.  Basically just the pureed meat and gravy.  think possibly stage 2?  Most sick cats go crazy for that.  Or how about bone broth?  It's very healthy.  Takes awhile to make (24 hours), but well worth it because of the nutrients.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/301643/...-make-broth-for-cats-very-simple-instructions

Due to the pH of Doxycycline, it is not uncommon for the tablets to become stuck in the esophagus of a cat. This can cause irritation, even scarring which may make it difficult for your cat to swallow. To prevent this, it is suggested that you follow the pill with water to thoroughly wash it down. Do not give this medication with milk or dairy products.   Probably each one of those cut down pills is a single dose.   They may have only had dog sized pills there.  Doxy is not a frequently used drug anymore, but it works with mycoplasma, which we are assuming she has.  Where do you live?  The last two cases we had on here were both in Oklahoma, and I know its more common in that central region of the U.S., maybe something to do with the rivers.  It doesn't matter, it can be anywhere.  I'm sure vets are going on the assumption it is mycoplasma because if it is, it is treatable if you get it in time.  There ARE cat sized coated doxy pills available but your vet probably did not have them.  There is also one other drug that works but chances are they did not have that either.

I just sent you a private message re putting the crushed pills into a gelatin capsule, but I cant find any record of it in my PM folder so I am writing it again here. You can get empty gelatin capsules at a drugstore usually, tell them they are for a cat so they will be small enough, or you can get some over the counter medicine that has capsules with medication in them, i.e. vitamins, and DUMP THEM OUT and use the empty gelatin capsules to put the crushed doxy in.  Then have a syringe full of water handy (you can get those t drug stores too, empty ones for babies).  Open her mouth gently with one hand and quickly poke the capsule, mayonnaise greased end first, into the back of her mouth.  Hold her mouth CLOSED so she cannot bite the pill for half a second while yoy grab the syringe full of water and then start squirting the water gently into her still closed mouth and she should swallow.  After the capsule goes down, give her a few more chasers of water to make sure it goes ALL the way down and her esophagus is well washed with water.

regarding your message, "They also said bring her back Tuesday for a subc fluid and doxy treatment and they would five her the B12 but that it wouldn't work from their thinking.Hoping she survives to take her to Feline Vet Clinic Tuesday and due to the fact I can't get doxy in her and water I am unsure of I am fearful she will further decline to point of no return."

SOMEWHERE in here, and I cant find it now because I just can't see it, you said something abut taking her to another NEW All Cats hospital where they could give her a transfusion, and then you said you would have to spend an extra hour going back to THIS clinic to get the reports they left out.  Don't worry about that, just take the cat and the records yuo DO have to the new All Cats hospital where she can get a transfusion, because it sounds like they are a much better place to handle all this.  They can call your old hospital and get whatever records are missing.  Just go to the Cat Hospital on Tuesday, first thing.  You wont even need an appointment, just take your cat and your records and tell them the whole story, and she will be better off there, and they will be able to explain it to you better than we can.

If she does have hemobartonella anemia, then it is going to take quite awhile to fix it and she can always have recurrences if she gets stressed.  You would be best to keep her as a safe inside cat when she recovers.  The doxycycline treatment should go on for three weeks, and maybe more.  They could switch her to one of the other medicine that works, (enrofloxacin and marbofloxacin have also been effective against M haemofelis).

QUOTE from PM:

"She is in the house although she is so much feral and wants out not much activity today at all I am keeping her quiet  and afraid she had a small just now bm tinged with blood (they didn't perform an exray while they had her there) could she have truma or something fractured she simply will not drink or since she has the blood report I gave is this normal for them to bleed in stool?

She will not drink any water so I am diluting her natures recipe tuna with water she will not the eat the meat part....of anything hence the weight loss...I will go to drugstore now and ask for small capsules also how can I get her to open her mouth it is a one person operation doing this as she is frightened of anyone else and I can barely get her to eat  ~ let alone pick her up she has

urinated 3x today which is good but she is  sniffing and sneezing and her mouth seems to be dry and she is opening it some and then looks like she is staring..

could she be hemorrhaging inside since her urine is tinged in blood? "

First you said there was blood in her stool, but now you are saying her urine is tinged with blood.  Which is it?  Or is it BOTH?

There could be blood in her stool because she has hookworms.  If she has not been wormed, it is likely she has hookworms.  Hookworms do leave blood, not life threatening right now.

If there is blood in her urine, that is an entirely different matter.  Just keep getting as much liquid into her as you can, but not MILK because you should not use milk or dairy with doxycycline.

How you do the pill thing is a one person operation and I describe it for a right handed person.  If you are left handed, reverse it.. I just tuck the cat under my left arm and use my right to do the pill, then the left hand to hold the mouth closed while I reach for the syringe with my right hand --However, if she is difficult to hold, you can wrap her in a towel first, making sure all paws are tightly tucked in, like you would swaddle a baby, and THEN you tuck that bundle under your arm and hold the sides of her head gently with your left hand while using the tip of a finger of your right hand to carefully pull down her jaw while holding the pill in the rest of the fingers, ready to insert, and Slide it greasy end first towards the back of her throat, hold her mouth closed for a second with your lefthand while you grab the syringe of water with your right hand and hopefully chase the pill down with water.    If it doesnt work, then just forget the doxy until Tuesday because there is nothing else you can do.  The important thing is that whatever you grease the capsule with tastes good (butter, mayonnaise, chicken fat, coconut oil, anything that is edible and will make it slide down easily.  The capsule will stick unless you grease it.  I can do it, but it is hard to describe it.  You do not want her biting the capsule!  I bet there are some good videos on YouTube that you could find on giving a cat a pill.

If she is sniffing and sneezing, she may have picked up an upper respiratory infection too, considering she just spent a week in a vet clinic, and you probably have not had her vaccinated.  If her mouth is dry, keep putting water or tuna juice in with the syringe.  If sshe is sniffling, that's ok unless her nose gets blocked, and then you should take her in the bathroom and run the shower with warm to hot water, sit there and let her breathe steam for 10-15 minutes, and that will loosen up anything in her nose and you an wipe it off or she will sneeze it out later.  I hope she doesnt get an upper resiratory virus on top of all this, but we can only do one day at a time here.  Do get her to the AllCats clinic first thing Tuesday.

And YES, she CAN make it, the other ones all made it, but in some cases they had relapses and had to go back on meds.  You need a vet who understands the disease and has a good support staff and you can go from there.  Once the medicine makes the bad bug disappear, her body will stop killing off the red cells and she will feel better.  Right now she doesnt have a lot of oxygen because red cells carry oxygen and hers are being destroyed.  Keep her as quiet as you can.

In answer to your question she has blood tinged in the very smalll bm dime sized 2 balls I can't check her urine as it is in her litter boxI Afriend of mine is a pharmacist he said I could giver her water in a syringe I found size 0  would that work with mayonnaise on it and some tuna juice to get down her throat. I will be trying that in a few right now she is lying on bed.. Should I stress her out by putting something different to catch urine what could I use I am not sure she will use it. After spending her days outdoors she would come in around late evening eat a meal and go to her chair or in bed on pillow she i slaying one some afhgans  I will be taking her first thing Tuesday she is so frail thanks for your input you are  angels if I will give update on progress  One more thing I have a male cat very healthy should I keep him out of room where she is for an health reasons I would like to open the room up but not necessary. She doesn't mind my shitzu but has never interacted well with him mostly him intimidating her.  I took him in also 3 years ago Thanks again

Where on the east coast?  State, Town?  zip code?  makes it easier to look up vets if we have that.

I am about to go to work for awhile and will not be online.  I am a senior citizen and do not have a smart phone like the rest of the world so I cannot go online away from home.

If you can keep the male cat away from her, it would be better since he stresses her and she needs very little stress.

I only asked about the urine because you SAID the URINE was blood tinged, I guess you did not mean that, you were thinking of the feces

As long as there isnt a LOT of blood in the feces, its probably just worms.  Something else yu can ask the vet about but certainly would not give her wormer when she is sick.

Let us know what the new vet says on Tuesday.
