My 8 year old cat has never been the same since shots in 2014, she is so skittish and hides. This is almost like what you hear about kids getting shots and the controversy about Autism/Asperger Syndrome from shots. I am so sorry and wish I could time travel back to have never given the shots. She is not the same cat, this totally messed up her head:(((( Please advise, this saddens me to no end!!!! LL

Thats a bummer! Luckily, we know that children cannot get autism from vaccinations. Maybe shes just really really really scared from what happend? I know they make like calming scents and stuff for cats. Maybe you can try something like that?

She's a total skittish scaredy cat. Hiding under bed always. People come over, she hides. My gentle spirited husband walks in room she hides. She was not like this before the shots!! This is upsetting me:((( [emoji]128546[/emoji]

I'd assume it has nothing to do with the shots themselves, but the pain of them. Somehow this made her nervous of people. Have you tried using Feliway or Bach's rescue remedy? Both of these can really help with nervous and anxious cats.

I did a quick read through your posting history and it sounds like a lot of things changed right after the shots. She was boarded twice and you moved, right? My guess is that all the change really rocked her world and she's insecure now. I don't think it has to do with the shots at all.

To help her, I would try to build as much of a routine and as much stability as possible. Reward her whenever she is brave. You could also talk to your vet about antianxiety meds.

Yes she was boarded, that's why she got the shots, it was mandatory for boarding. We did not move yet. That is going to be another trauma to deal with when that time comes:((((

Feliway is a plug in diffuser kind of like the air freshening ones but with calming stuff for cats. The rescue remedy you would have to look up. I think its a two drops in the water.
