I adopted my first kitty, Buddy, two months ago. I'm pretty smitten with my guy. He's probably about 8 years old.

For years a woman was feeding him as a stray/feral. Poor guy must have had some rough times because part of his ear is missing and he is FIV+. She brought him indoors about a year and a half ago, but his FIV meant he couldn't live with her other cats. I saw his ad on adoption site and feel in love

During the day he stays under my bed, but he comes out in the late afternoon/evening. I call him and he jumps right up on the bed to cuddle. He also is my purring alarm clock in the morning. After two months, he is finally getting comfortable in other rooms. We're hanging out on the couch in the living room right now.

He loves this toy and will  play for hours!

His cat tree is also a hit.

Welcome to TCS!! Aw, he looks so adorable! Two months is not too bad. Not very short, but not surprisingly long either. Do you know if he is fixed?

Thanks for the welcome! He is neutered. Not declawed. He also had some teeth extracted before I got him. More may need to come out, but the vet didn't want to do anything until he was more settled. He as quite stressed about moving to a new home, and there were multiple vet visits until he was eating normally. Adding the Feliway spray in addition to the diffuser seemed to be the breakthrough. The next morning I woke up to a kitty on my chest looking for chin scratches!

Welcome Buddy and CourtneyB!
Buddy looks super happy in his forever home. Thank you for your open heart and patience in letting Buddy settle in at his pace...sounds like you have a lovely vet, who is being sensitive to Buddy's stress levels as well [emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji]

Thank you, HelloMissKitty. I'm hoping that eventually he comes out more during the day. Not sure if he's still frightened or if his corner under the bed is just a very comfortable spot. I did move his food out of the bedroom a few feet at a time which is what I think triggered him to do more exploring.

He really does seem pretty comfortable these days. :lol3:

I love that photo of Buddy so comfy and cozy [emoji]128571[/emoji]
He has been thru a lot of ups and downs thru most of his years so it makes sense that it would take time for trust and security in his new home to grow. But your love and patience is what will help him continue to blossom. Please keep us posted on his progress!!
