One our 3 cats stopped using the litter box and going in the same spot in our dining room.

I believe she is acting up because we let her outside under supervision and now Cry's to go out and pees by (other side of the room in the corner) our sliding door to the yard.

We use cat attract litter and always keep clean in our basement. We put her in a spare bedroom for a week with food, water, bed, toys, litter box and she was fine and we cleaned the area with neutralizer very well.
She was fine the first day out but then back to using the same corner to pee/poop always crying at the door if we are outside.

I was told try a covered litter box in that room but it is the kitchen/dining room and that is kind of gross having litter tracked everywhere and litter dust where we eat and make food.

Stumped on what to do, it was a mistake letting her outside but I can't undo that now.

Hi @cainhawk and welcome to TCS..

It's a good idea to have her checked over by the vet, if you haven't already, as one of the big causes of peeing outside the box is a urinary tract infection.

She does go in the box if isolated but when not she goes in the same spot in the dining room

I'm not sure what you mean by 'she does go in the box is isolated'?

Some cats will decided, even a little later in life, that they won't wee where they poo (and vice versa of course
).  How many boxes do you have?

We have 3 litter boxes and 3 cats. If we put her in our spare bedroom with a box she uses it. But when she sees us in the yard or decides she wants to go outside she paws at the sliding glass door and eventually goes to the bathroom on the floor near by.

When we first moved in the house there was a litter box in that room which was moved to the basement. All the cats had no problem over the winter, I let her outside under my supervision for her own enjoyment and now she is obsessed with being outside and seems to act out when she can not go outside.
I feel it was a mistake letting her outside but I can not erase her memory now.

I don't want to keep her in a bedroom by herself but I also don't want cat pee soaking into the wood floors in a room where we eat/prepare food.

Can you put a litter box by the door? Where the box used to be in that room?
