Allergies, Anxiety and Throw up, oh my!!!

Hello, I am still relatively a new cat owner. I found my first feline fur baby, Simone, 4 years ago. Simone was a stray when I found her, she was about 4 months old according to the vet. She has always been skittish and wary of strangers.
When she was about 2 she began over grooming and after trying steroids and some other meds we had her tested for allergies and she is allergic to three type of trees, grass and dust. Simone is an indoor cat and we do our best keep the dust at a minimum (un-winnable).
None of the meds we've tried have worked for the over-grooming and the vet isn't even sure it's the allergies, it might be behavioral now. [emoji]128577[/emoji]
Now our issue is throwing up. About two weeks ago she began throwing up after every feeding. Took her to the vet, blood tests were done and everything came back fine. She was given a shot for anti-vomitting and she responded well for about 4 days and then the vommitting started again. Back to the vet and because she bit a vet tech, she was sedated and X-rays and an ultrasound was done. Once again everything looks normal, there was some gas in her stomach and a little thickening of the lining but the vet thinks it could be because of the throwing up. She feels confident that we know it's not diabetes or tumors and a few other things; however, we still don't know what it is.
Simone got to come home Thursday with a new food, limited ingredient diet from Science Hils. Thursday evening I gave her a tablespoon at a time about 10 minutes apart and she threw up after each tablespoon. Yesterday I tried wetting down the dry food and fed her a teaspoon at a time, 15- 30 mintutes apart. She held down about 30 teaspoons throughout the day, yay! Her last feeding was about 8:45pm.
We went to bed about 10 and still no throwing up. But woke up this morning and there was throw up [emoji]128542[/emoji].
Gave her a tsp this morning and she did okay about 10 minutes later gave her another tsp and within 10 minutes she threw it up.
I am at a loss. The vets are at a loss. I realize this is a new food and this morning I gave the food to her before it softened up because she was meowing
/ begging. She is very interested in eating and her behavior hasn't changed. Any ideas? The vet says next step is to try an oral steroid.
Thank you in advance for any input/ advice.
Carrie

Simone's combination of issues -- the overgrooming, the allergies, and the vomiting -- makes me wonder if she's allergic/sensitive to something in her food. What were you feeding her before the vet put her on the Hills food? And which Hills food are you feeding? It can take time for a new food to help a cat with an allergy but all kinds of common ingredients -- like fish, chicken, wheat, corn, and potato -- can cause reactions in cats and it does sound like there's something in the Hills food that's not agreeing with Simone.

Switching to a wet food with a simple recipe (no grains, no potato or pea fillers, etc.) is often a good start to helping cats with food sensitivities. Sometimes it's just observation (or even keeping a food diary) that helps figure things out: that's how we figured out it was potato that was making one of our cats vomit and get gassy!
