Good morning!
And Happy Friday!

Easy question this morning: Glasses or contacts?

I wear glasses, have had glasses since I was 4 years old, and am supposed to wear them from the time I get out of bed in the morning til I go to bed at night. The only time I really wear them is when I'm driving. My sunglasses are prescription and I wear them whenever I'm outside.

I am not allowed to wear contacts anymore. And that's a shame because I can really rock the green contacts with my auburn hair.

Glasses, all the time.

I didn't need them until I was in my 40's.  It's been all downhill since then. I'm far too lazy to wear contacts.

I wear glasses when I drive and read.  I wore contacts years ago.  I am only slightly nearsighted and now I have bifocals.  I was able to pass the eye exam for my drivers license without glasses until about 10 years ago.  The eye doctor told me that actually I am legal to drive during the day without glasses but not at night.  I have the restriction on my license though.  I have always worn them when I drive even when I didn't have the restriction because I felt safer with them on.

I wear glasses, bifocals to be exact. I am moderately near sighted and far sighted.

I have worn glasses since the 4th grade. I know I needed them as early as the 2nd, but hid it from everyone.

For many years, before I was near sighted, I wore contacts. I had to stop them because of an abrasion on the cornea. When I tried to go back to them, it occurred again.

When the time came to switch to bifocals, I tried contacts again. It was a combo of contacts and reading glasses. With my line of work, I discovered that was too much of a hassle, so I switched back over to glasses full time.

I do miss not wearing contacts. I enjoy the peripheral vision they allow. I am a born 'looking out of the corners of my eye' person. My eyeglass prescription does not allow me to do that. It is very strong. I have to turn my head to see things clearly. It is a pain...in more ways than one.

Fortunately, I found an awesome optometrist in my city. He is so good at his work. The lenses and fit of the glasses are perfect. I usually just walk in the store, asking for a new set of glasses. He picks them out for me. Somehow the first pair he picks out is the one I end up getting. He also stocks petite frames, which is what I need. He also fists them perfectly to my head. I rarely have to ask him for an adjustment. I just go in periodically during the year to get them back in line.

I always seem to have the 'trendy' frames also. He tells me what time of the year he gets the new ones in.

I'm VERY nearsighted. I got glasses when I was 8---I'm sure I needed them sooner, but I didn't realize it. I guess I thought that far-off things looking blurry was normal. Kids only know what they know, after all. I wear them all the time. I've been told I should try contacts, but the thought of putting anything on my eyeball kind of freaks me out. So I never have.

Glasses.  In 2007 I had an infection in the cornea of my right eye due to "over-wearing contacts".  It took a month and 2-3 visits to the eye doctor every week before my vision was restored.  It took close to a year before my tear production was back to normal.  I tried contacts again after that but they just weren't comfortable and I couldn't get a comfortable prescription.  My proper prescription gave me a headache and a weaker one I couldn't see as sharply.  I would wear them to work but as soon as I got home I took them out because my eyes just couldn't take it anymore.  So after that I just stopped wearing them altogether.  The only time I miss it is when i have to dress up or get my picture taken.  Plus; I love to nap.

I've worn glasses since I was 3 year old
I'm super nearsighted. Partly genetics (Mom wears glasses, Dad is supposed to but doesn't except for reading) and partly, I think, because I remember getting sand throw into my eyes while playing at neighborhood kid's house (no adult supervision back then which was the norm) and I don't recall wearing glasses at all at that time.

i just use (cheap, from the dollar store) magnifying glasses, or an actual hand held magnifying glass. it's the really tiny print that's on things that gives me trouble as i get older.

Glasses.  15 year old glasses that I can't see out of any more.  I used to wear contacts, but I have an overwear problem, and they just don't do the trick any more.  AND since I cannot seem to adjust to either bifocal contacts OR monovision prescriptions, I have to have reading glasses with the contacts.  It just doesn't seem to be worth the bother.  I'd settle for one decent pair of bifocals.

I wore contacts for 30 years. Started with the hard, went to the breathable and finally to the soft which were fantastic. Couldn't feel then. I wore reading glasses over then. When I was 52 and my mum passed away they suddenly became annoying. They weren't comfortable any more so I'm back to glasses. I hate then. My nose is squishy, no bone or whatever in there, so they slip down my nose constantly. I.need to pluck up the courage to do my eyes seen to and then get new ones.
I started wearing them at 8 when the school sent my dad, an ophthalmic optician, a note saying I needed glasses!!!

This sounds almost exactly like me. Also got them at 8 but needed them sooner. I'm terribly nearsighted, and a slight nystagmus that wasn't so slight at one time, so used to have prisms in my lenses also (don't anymore).

Funny, my mom used to only need reading glasses until she was 69! Then she needed them all the time, and did she ever complain! Then she got mad at me for not having sympathy that she didn't need to wear glasses all the time until she was 69!!! :lol3:

Oh, and I MUCH prefer glasses. I'm ok wearing contacts on rare occasion, but I just don't see as well with them, and driving with them can be downright scary. The other thing I like about my glasses - the prescription sunglasses to be specific - is that they help me tolerate flashing lights at shows much better. So yes, I'll be that person in a dark room wearing sunglasses :D

I wear glasses most of the time when I'm out and about, but they're tinted. I can't stand being outside without my sunglasses. I have several pairs with varying darkness of tints, so they're good for different conditions. Even on a cloudy day that's a bit glary I need my tinted glasses so I don't squint so much. I guess I have really sensitive eyes. I started wearing glasses when I was 25.

glasses since kindergarden-5? 6? they were black frames and ugly. got picked on and that began my journey of fighting with kids with my fists.

I cant wear contacts. my eyes feel naked without glasses. I don't wear sunglasses so I am sure I will pay the price when I get older. I have to wear them all the time. headaches big time. I used to read without glasses but now I cant see the print. my script is now 3.5 so I guess in a few years will have to deal with progressive lens. for now I don't need bifocals. I can see perfect without glasses but my eyes are not a candidate for that operation to fix the vision-I need to add material to my eye to make it round as its more like a football and each eye is on a different axis. So if I lost my glasses I would be pretty miserable without them.

I need a new pair as these are scratched and insurance only covers new glasses every other year. I get cresol coating on them-it makes a big difference.

I only like red tinted sunglasses so for now I don't wear them. the grey tint make me strain to see. I have a prescription pair but the lens keep popping out. I just never go get it fixed. need to find a more local eye doctor. lens crafters were the ones I used to go to before I moved here. Work provides for prescription safety glasses so we have to go to this small doctor in the city-they have upped their prices super high so hopefully they find a better doctor. they have screwed up peoples scripts. Jon gets his glasses there and he is super fussy about how they make the lens-they have to be cut a certain way-he always gets those fussy tiny lens with the frameless frames-I cant stand them. they make big spots on my nose so now I look for old fashioned lens without the nose pads. plus those frameless ones get dirty the second they touch my skin-I have oily skin-was forever washing them. now the frame I have is in the profile picture and oil spots are less now.

I tried contacts but they hurt-I cant afford the ones that come with weights on them-the regular ones hurt my eyes by the second time I wear them. and I still ended up with headaches because of the astigmatism. so nope contacts wont work.

Glasses, no doubt. Tried contacts when I was 15, 22, 37, and 41; each time I could never get used to the feel. I prefer to have the weight of spectacles on my face.
