Congratulations to you and Buddy!

He's really gorgeous - I love his coat.  It looks like he has some interesting things to look at from his balcony!

Thanks, Margd!

Buddy loves the balcony. I actually feel bad in the winter because he's cooped up, but in the warm months he loves sitting out there, looking at the people, cars, squirrels, birds and everything else.

As for his coat, I'm not one to usually promote products, but I think the Blue Buffalo Wilderness dry food helps his coat look great. I feed him primarily wet food, and the dry as a bedtime/overnight snack in his bowl so he won't wake me up for food. A few times I've run out of BB and temporarily used grocery store brands like Fancy Feast, and when I switch back to BB his coat always looks shinier.

Thanks mizzmagoo! I can't believe it's 2 years. It really seems strange thinking of life before he became my little Buddy, that's how much a part of my life he is.

Buddy is truly a knockout!  Yes, indeedy, that's a really handsome guy you've got there.  And his green eyes are amazing.  I wish I had a balcony for my two cats.  They would love it.  But . . . you're not nervous about him trying to jump?

Oh, I am, definitely. He jumped once, when he was a kitten. The balcony is like 1 1/2 stories high, because the rear of the building slopes down, and there must have been a van or truck or SUV parked below one day, giving him a way to jump down.

Long story short, I was done with dinner and realized I hadn't seen Bud in a while...went crazy looking for him inside and on the balcony, realized he must have jumped...and a half hour later found him outside, terrified, hiding under a car. That was one of the worst 30 minutes ever for me...when I was looking I saw a woman coming home from work, and asked her if she'd seen him...I must have looked really upset because she helped me look.

Anyway, now I only let him stay out there when he's supervised by me. He really loves sitting outside on warm days, so I bring my laptop outside and get my work done while he hangs out.

There's an older couple, also on the first floor, who also have a gray tabby who hangs out on their balcony, but I've never seen him outside unless they're out there with him too. We're in New York, so it really isn't possible to have outdoor cats -- not only are cars a huge hazard, because of the amount of traffic and how people drive around here, but also the municipalities are fanatics about removing "strays" and I wouldn't want my cat to be picked up by animal control or a shelter. Indoor only.
